Check out this really neat folder on Brickshelf: (URL) creator calls it "microscale" but I think most would agree it's not really microscale (smaller than minifig scale). Well, I'm one of the lucky few who has never had a Lego® Dark Age. I never felt that I was too old to collect the brick, and I was never embarassed to play with ABS.
