  Tracking Pick-a-Brick inventories

I read with interest the annoucement over in .lego about www.pabtrak.com and, having visited the home page and read what the site aims to achieve, I thought I'd let you all know about what we in the Brickish Association have been using to track (...)   Talked to the PaB people today at LLW

(...) They state that an order is being placed this week for new PaB parts, to be fulfilled sometime after mid-June. So nothing new will probably be in the mix until then, according to LLW. best LFB (22 years ago, 12-May-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.legoland.billund, lugnet.legoland.deutschland)

  Bricks and the Draft

All LEGO bricks are designed to have a 'draft'; they're very slightly narrower on one end than the other to help get the brick out of the mold. I examined some 1x2 bricks fresh out of the brand-new 4496 tubs tonight, and discovered that all of the (...) (22 years ago, 12-May-04, to lugnet.general)

Re: Corellian "Corvette" in the Coruscant skyways

(...) The tiles would definitely look better, but none came with the set, & since I had started it as a one-set-only-moc, i tried to make it better within that set. Thanks! Jeff (22 years ago, 12-May-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars, lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: From the mouth of babes and just what is going on!?

(...) Does that mean if I decide to dislike green beans, spinach, broccoli, they will rebel and start to like those? :) Melanie (22 years ago, 12-May-04, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.general)

  Re: Jake did good Thanks!!

(...) Well, glad to see i'm not alone (for a change...). I agree 100% with you both (and with Ted Michon as well). This color change might be not reversible (1). So will not be my feelings about TLC. I'm very disappointed with this unexcusable color (...) (22 years ago, 11-May-04, to lugnet.general)

Re: From the mouth of babes and just what is going on!?

(...) Did you consider that your dislike may be *in part* the *cause* of their taking to Bionicle? I know most kids like to go against authority in some way at some time. ROSCO (22 years ago, 11-May-04, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.general)

Re: From the mouth of babes and just what is going on!?

(...) Darrell, You point is well taken. However, their choices of what particular sets/colors/parts they choose to like or dislike are well beyond my powers of influence. I can't stand Bionicle and they both know this, yet they both love Bionicle (...) (22 years ago, 11-May-04, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.general)

Re: 4755 - Knight Bus Colours

OK, I did the best I can with the pics. While I can't get the overall tint of the pics to match real life, I think they show the multiple shades well enough. I brightened them a bit to get them closer to real life, but brightened the entire pic, I (...) (22 years ago, 11-May-04, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general, lugnet.color)

Re: LEGO, kids, and how it has come to this

(...) I address this in my 3D CAD class - it's very interesting to see how adults approach building instructions as users (and then creators). There's some very complex thinking going on there. Ever read any of Tufte's books on Graphic (...) (22 years ago, 11-May-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: LEGO, kids, and how it has come to this

(...) I think the Yoda statue uses both the parts list and the step highlighting which is very helpful for a set like that. Dan. (22 years ago, 11-May-04, to lugnet.general)

Re: From the mouth of babes and just what is going on!?

(...) I always find parents' assertions that their children "think for themselves" to be dubious, as more often than not it's a euphamism for "I'm proud they think just like me.." It's funny to see these same parents later on, when their (...) (22 years ago, 11-May-04, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.general)

Re: Someone's Got too Much Time On Their Hands!

Someone's Got too Much Time On Their Hands!

This is a thread to collect and spread zippy responces to the most cliche responce so many of us have heard time and time again. Reply with your best zippy responce! "Hey look at my lego creations online. Look, a three foot spaceship!" "Wow. It (...) (22 years ago, 11-May-04, to lugnet.general)

Re: From the mouth of babes and just what is going on!?

(...) I agree with this assertion, sounds like Mel has raised people who think for themselves, not that she was influencing them. But I xfut to market theory because I have a tangential question... how much an hour do you guys (Troy, Mel, whoever (...)   Re: Corellian "Corvette" in the Coruscant skyways

(...) Right on! Do you have any 1x6 lt.grey tiles instead of that plate? It looks like one stud of the 1x6 plate is holding up the side mirro - so how about doing a 1x4 tile and then a 1x2 plate, then but a 1x2 grille-tile on top of the exposed stud (...)   Re: Enough about colors already

(...) "Think calmly?" You obviously don't know who you're dealing with here! 8^) (...) Perhaps the doom and gloom *has* been a bit overstated. I think the whole situation strikes a number of nerves at once: 1. "They didn't check with us first." (...) (22 years ago, 11-May-04, to lugnet.general)
