  Re: Suggestion for LDraw FAQ

(...) Good ideas. My suggestion (to tie into the look and feel and professional style of ldraw.org) would be to rephrase the questions to be a little bit more formal. ie: change 'What is this LDraw Thing?' to 'What is LDraw?' and 'Mailing list?!? (...) (26 years ago, 14-May-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: Progress so far, and a new header

(...) It's a semantic difference. - 'References' refers to other articles (ancestors). - 'Xref' is self-referential and refers both to itself and to any other copies of the same article if it has been crossposted. So copying the 'Xref' header (and (...) (26 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: Suggestion for LDraw FAQ

(...) Good idea. Which brings up an issue -- there would probably be a need for more directory levels than just those represented by the newsgroups, and probably just for FAQ items. Todd, how much of an issue is this? Cheers, - jsproat (26 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Suggestion for LDraw FAQ

[crossposted to lugnet.faq and lugnet.cad.dev, followup-to set to lugnet.faq] Looking at the LDraw FAQ, it looks like a new level of organization is needed, above the current levels. More precisely, a large number of the topics should be grouped (...) (26 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.faq, lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: How can I find information about specific LEGO pieces?

(...) It's Anders Isaksson's LDLIST, available at (URL). But you need LDraw installed to use it. So an alternate parts-reference tool might be appropriate, such as Technica or Lutz' page, or my occasionally-maintained site: (URL) (links to Technica (...) (26 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: What do the set numbers mean?

Hi Joshua, I've the admin right to the lugnet database, too, but have not much time to enter the missing sets/pictures to the database recently, and this seems to be continuing for a while. I have more than 600 pics (of sets already in database but (...) (26 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.faq, lugnet.admin.database)

Re: What do the set numbers mean?

(...) <big ol' snip> (...) Hmm. I am uncomfortable with the term "discovered". Let's say I recently _entered_ them. (...) There are the original "Universal" building sets, from the very beginning of LEGO releases. Surf here for more... (URL) see (...) (26 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.faq, lugnet.admin.database)

  Rehashing TLG legal stuff

Todd, All, I put an item into the FAQ reiterating TLG's Fair Play policy. I'm pretty nervous about it (I'm not a lawyer, you see) and would enjoy review and criticism on this item. Also, if you see any impolite HTML tokens, please let me know. (...) (26 years ago, 12-May-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: Cancelling articles

(...) In Netscape Communicator 4.5 (which just happens to be what I use), you can right-click on the message in the message list window, and select "Cancel message". If the news server lets you (which it should if you authored the message using the (...) (26 years ago, 12-May-99, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.faq)

Re: How can I find information about specific LEGO pieces?

(...) Thank you both -- you just answered a couple of FAQ items. Steve, do you have a URL for the LDraw Part Search utility? Cheers, - jsproat (26 years ago, 12-May-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: Tags

(...) Erm, headers? I was thinking more along the lines of using H1 and H2 for subject lines, categories, etc. in the final HTML. Sorry for the confusion. Cheers, - jsproat (26 years ago, 12-May-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: What do the set numbers mean?

(...) Well, since it's for the FAQ, gimme the days-long explanation. :-, (...) Ooh, good exception. Thanks. (...) Cool, thanks for the analysis, Todd. Should I quote the list verbatim with a note of when the sample was taken, or will there be a (...) (26 years ago, 12-May-99, to lugnet.faq, lugnet.admin.database)

Re: How can I find information about specific LEGO pieces?

(...) It's still there - (URL) Keep LDraw Part Search handy -- you'll want it to find part numbers. Steve (26 years ago, 12-May-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: What do the set numbers mean?

(...) Generally, they mean quite a bit, but there are a lot of exceptions. The full answer can take days to answer. :) (...) Yeah. (...) No, some are 1 digit, some are 2, some are 3, and at least one is 6 digits (that's the soccer starter set: (...) (26 years ago, 12-May-99, to lugnet.faq, lugnet.admin.database)

(...) I'm confused; why/how would <H1> or <H2> be used in the headers? --Todd (26 years ago, 12-May-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: How can I find information about specific LEGO pieces?

I know James Jessiman had a fairly extensive (but certainly not exhaustive) database on what parts came with what sets in what colors in what years. I'm not sure if it's still available. As far as a LUGNET project, there is the lugnet.db.inv group (...) (26 years ago, 12-May-99, to lugnet.faq)

How can I find information about specific LEGO pieces?

Hey all, Is there any way I can find out information about specific Lego pieces? Suppose I wanted to find out if orange 2x2 macaroni pieces were ever sold -- how would I find out if they were? Could I also discover which sets the pieces came from? (...) (26 years ago, 12-May-99, to lugnet.faq, lugnet.general)
