I think these are some good points too. I like the idea of opening up Canada
for a PACNW Fest. Mark? You seem to be logical point man for this...what do
you think? Interested?

Yes. I've begun kicking the idea around on the SEALUG mailing list. If we
held it in Seattle, we'd be able to include people from BC, OR, and maybe
some of the other Northwest states. We might even attract a couple of folks
from the CA area.

I can see us holding a fest in either January or April.

Or with the weather issues folks have brought up, would fall or spring be
better for PNW, leaving winter for SoCal/Central Coast? If two events evolve
out of this (likely, I think), I'd still want to spread them out by quarters
to 1) make it fair for those wanting to attend more than one event, 2) give
everyone some breathing room, 3) not take any excitement away from one or
another event...that's why I didn't even try to mention the obvious alure of
summer in SoCal...

That does bring up an idea though...

Between PNW, California and DC, we could try to hold ALL of the events at
the same time, with the same themes and materials...I suppose that COULD be
pretty cool, and almost everyone, no matter where they live, would have a
fair to middlin' chance of making a BrickFest at the same time. We could
even hold some remote group sessions (video conferencing anyone? I have
experience setting that up). We'd need to get in touch with Christina and
Stephen when they wrap up in DC to discuss something like this.

I'd love to see one done in a different quarter,
giving us all 3 events, within three months...does that follow?
BricksWest-Carlsbad:Jan/Feb
PACNW Fest-Portland(?):Apr(?)
BrickFest-Wash. DC:July
Maybe something mid-US(?):Oct(?)

Also that put's Brickfest West within reach of the Califreakians,
and some of the other western states.

I think most folks are willing to drive +/- 10 hours tops. That far north
would put me and mine out of the running for a trip...

I could potentially drive to a fest in San Francisco. It's about 13-14 hours
from here, but I drive back to Montana every once in a while, so I can
handle it. And there would likely be a carpool from these parts. Problem is,
are there enough FOLs in SF to even hold a fest?

I'm not sure that matters, if it's just a central location for everyone to
get together.

I'm still looking for more LUGOLA folks to chime in here about their travel
preferences.

Matt
