  Re: BrickWorld 2007 - who's getting paid?

(...) I don't think making money from an AFOL event is tantamount to "screwing us hobbyists" - but I also don't think it's right to make money from an event without telling volunteers and attendees what their time, effort, and money is going (...)   Re: What was the question?

(...) The question was: who, if anyone, will be profiting from this event. I started with the assumption that no one would be profiting, since I was going by David's message. After reading Bryan's email, I thought he was saying that he and Adam (...) (18 years ago, 18-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickworld, FTX)

One cool thing about being a nay-blay-er (IMHO)

We won't have access to all the new parts. Is that bad thing? In the case of a few of the new parts, definitely! The new 1x1 angled brick is one of the best new parts in years. Ditto the new 1x1 tooth plate. However, as nay-blay-ers, we will have (...) (18 years ago, 18-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.color, FTX)

I'm with Steve H on this one--the clips you yourself have taken and compiled into your post are not contradictory and they do lay out, at least in my mind, what's going to happen with (...)   Re: BrickWorld 2007 - who's getting paid?

Bryan has contacted me privately and assured me that both his statement below, and David Gregory's previous statement about nobody making money, are truthful and accurate. As these are unambiguous statements, this clears up the whole issue for me in (...) (18 years ago, 17-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickworld)

  Re: BrickWorld 2007 - who's getting paid?

(...) Really? I have just finished reading every post in this group and could not find a place where the organizers have said this. If it was said somewhere else, then it probably should be repeated here for those of us who do not read every post on (...) (18 years ago, 17-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickworld)

  What was the question?

(...) ... (...) Marc, From all the examples you listed, it appears several people have tried to answer your questions. Wouldn't you agree? Personally, I don't understand what you think they are trying to hide. If you want to assume people that run (...) (18 years ago, 17-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickworld, FTX) !

  Re: BrickWorld 2007 - who's getting paid?

(...) It has also been answered several ways: 1. (URL): You also asked about money. Bryan and Adam are assuming the financial risk (and its large) for the event. And, while the event is not being created to make money there is the possibility that (...) (18 years ago, 17-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickworld, FTX)

  Re: BrickWorld 2007 - who's getting paid?

(...) Community, John asks above - why is the simple question not answered? In our minds, it has been answered - several times. Please refer to the most recent reference to the answer: (URL) We hope you can all find a way to be part of Brickworld. (...) (18 years ago, 17-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickworld, FTX)

Re: Talk me into Bley at BrickFest

(...) It seems to me that piece counts per dollar are way up these days from where they were when I used to buy a lot of LEGO, although I suspect this is more of an attempt to stay competitive with clone brands than it is an attempt to pass along (...)
