Building a landmark, one brick at a time

I just wanted to make a quick announcement of the GMLTC's next big building project. In honor of the city of Rochester, Minnesota's Sesquicentennial - their 150th anniversary, we'll be building a LEGO version of the Plummer Building. The Plummer (...)   Event Kit data

At BrickFest D.C., several people had asked about getting the Event Kit Guidebook posted online. So I added it to my to-do list, and today started going through the PDF to see about transferring it to LEGO Fan. I quickly realized, however, that I (...)   Re: BrickFest 2004 Commemorative DVD

(...) I think you are all missing the point of my post. I was responding to the suggestion that the price should be raised. This was not made my Todd but by someone with no involvement with the process. I trust Todd. If he says he can do it for $5, (...) (22 years ago, 30-Aug-04, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

  Re: BrickFest 2004 Commemorative DVD

(...) Wow, that's the patented rtlToronto response to anyone whining. :) (...) You know, I don't agree with Larry a lot, but I must agree here. I was stunned at how low the $5 USD offer was at BrickFest. If I were doing it, I wouldn't ask for (...) (22 years ago, 30-Aug-04, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

  Planning brick activities at Philcon

(URL) Philcon>, the annual Philadelphia Area Science Fiction Conference, is the world's oldest SF convention. It initiated a children's program six years ago, of which I assumed control in 2003; I took the opportunity to sneak LEGO bricks into the (...)   Re: BrickFest 2004 Commemorative DVD

(...) Hi Todd, Just wondering, will the DVD be readeable for all zones ? I saw part of BF via the streaming, the pictures and the 3 web cams (thanks for those !) and seeing more video would be great ! Gael "Khan" FRAZIER <gael.frazier@freelug.org> (...)   Re: BrickFest 2004 Commemorative DVD

(...) snip (...) This is SO AWESOME. As someone who had attended several previous BF, not attending this year was a real bummer. The ability to see people and stuff I missed would be so awesome. This is easily worth $10 to me. I think it should be (...) (22 years ago, 28-Aug-04, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.events)

  Re: BrickFest 2004 Commemorative DVD

(...) There's no "project" , there's no "budget", it's one guy trying to do something cool for the community. But since you want to nail it down to the penny, you left out some vital things : - time it takes to compile such a DVD - time + efforts it (...)   Re: Generic event name?

(...) Much has been made in the past about the difference between an Expo (primarily outward facing) and a Con (primarily inward) LegoWorld is primarily an Expo, there are thousands of mundanes. All show, not as much (...) (22 years ago, 27-Aug-04, to lugnet.events)

  Re: Generic event name?

  Generic event name?

Does anyone have a good generic name for an event involving LEGO bricks? Brickfest is obviously taken, as is Brickevent, and anything with the word "LEGO" in it is off limits as well. Would BrickCon work, or is that too close to NWBrickCon? A quick (...) (22 years ago, 27-Aug-04, to lugnet.events)

  Re: BrickFest 2004 Commemorative DVD

(...) Suddenly, this thread has taken a sour turn. I don't know Todd, but I've see his sumo robots, and I'm willing to bet the budget for this project has been equally well thought out. I suspect the DVD budget planning committee sat down on Friday (...) (22 years ago, 27-Aug-04, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

  Re: BrickFest 2004 Commemorative DVD

(...) Now I agree that the volunteers putting this together are doing a great service but the "cost" of the DVD is, what, 50 cents for the blank DVD, 50 cents for the cover, and 50 cents for the cover. That's $1.50. You can ship anywhere in the US (...) (22 years ago, 27-Aug-04, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

  Re: BrickFest 2004 Commemorative DVD

(...) $5? $6? Makes no difference to me since it's worth it but didn't BrickFest just get $7,500 for the Sunday influx of people (1500 x $5). Do we really need to nickle and dime folks over the DVD? Abe (22 years ago, 27-Aug-04, to lugnet.events.brickfest)
