(Not speaking as an official of BF) Like the pins and some other stuff,
things like the DVD are really powered by the volunteers (in this case,
Tom) and the price is basically just enough to cover the costs of making
and sending it.
If the costs to make it were much higher, BF would find a way to help
subsidize it. But (at least IMHO), $6 is pocket change to get such a nifty
thing and most AFOLs seem to agree.
All the money from those people on Sunday went to cover costs of the event
(from rooms to prizes to the cleaning crew afterwards). If there is any
money left over, it will go as seed money towards next year or even better,
seed money to help someone else start a BrickFest somewhere else (tho do
_not_ quote me on that line!!! that's just my personal hope :-)

| (...) Now I agree that the volunteers putting this together are doing a great service but the "cost" of the DVD is, what, 50 cents for the blank DVD, 50 cents for the cover, and 50 cents for the cover. That's $1.50. You can ship anywhere in the US (...) (20 years ago, 27-Aug-04, to lugnet.events.brickfest)
