Wait, you are pissed because of their prices? Did you buy this without knowing, or did you see everything up front? I grew up during, what was in my opinion, the golden age of technic (1992-1996 was the best). I remember seeing a technic model in those square catalogues and thinking WOW. From the very first basic sets of 1949, until 1965.... all Lego Basic Sets were nicely housed in flat boxes with all the elements displayed in checkerboard and zig-zag patterns. (...) You're right, the boxes are definitely way too big for their contents. But in addition to the billboard qualities of a large box, they also help justify the price. LEGO's standard policy is that the main model on the cover of the box is shown life-sized. (At least that was the policy when I worked at the Imagination Center at the Mall of America.)
