Tis true. What I was trying to say (I thought I did tho) was that the studless
beams are typically odd 'lengths'. Since the holes are (presumably) between the
(imaginary) studs, then there would be an even number of holes. In most Technic
beams, there would be even number of studs and an odd number of holes. You can
actually convert some of the holes to studs (so to speak) by using 3/4 pins. See

Most (probably all) of those technics would apply to studless beams, other than
with ZNAP you actually tie the beams together.
