AFAIK, this seller, NinjaPrincess, is a woman who deals with bulk bought Lego
which she sorts and resells.  I vaguely recall her having bought some 20,000
copies of Final Duel IIs for $1 each for resale from some clearance/wholesale
group.

NinjaPrincess is willing to buy in huge quantities, take the financial risk and
run her shop like a business.  Knowing that, I really have no big problem with
what she does or her pricing.  It's not like she is lying anywhere about the set
as I've seen other sellers do.

Troy buys most his Lego on clearance and he usually has to compete with other
AFOLs to get to it. He has to put in the legwork to get it, sort it, sell it.
Again, not much problem with what he does.

What I find bothersome is when there is only a small amount of a set available
and someone buys them all to resale.  At that point I think the person should do
the considerate thing and just take what they will actually use/enjoy.  I see
this occasionally when a limited quantity of a rare set is found and they
quickly disappear only to return to BL or ebay at inflated prices.  Then the
seller has added no value to buyers (via sorting) and has just inserted himself
as an additional middleman.

Now if you guys find this offensive, wait till you hear what Brad Justus once
told me about.  Apparently when Lego find one last batch of some rare Town
airplane promo set a couple of years (about 12,000 sets), an AFOL approached
them about buying them all.  Presumably to resell at a higher price.
Fortunately Brad refused and offered them for individual sale to all of us.  Now
that sort of monoployizing would be truly offensive.

Lastly, I've been wondering this for years now.  NinjaPrincess and Troy I
understand.  But how is it that some European sellers are able to get INSANE
quantities of certain valuable parts?  Like several thousand Gryffindor shields
and such.  I mean, it's not as if they are buying whole sets since you'd expect
to see a bunch of the other parts to the set for sale (which is not the case).

(...) Maybe they've picked them up through Pick-A-Brick or tent sales? The one store listing massive quantities of the Gryffindor shield is in Denmark, and they might have liquidated their leftover stock of light-grey when they switched over to (...) (21 years ago, 23-May-04, to lugnet.dear-lego)

(...) How about the value of making the market more efficient? Suppose that person A is willing to pay $20 for a set and person B is willing to pay $40 for a set[1]. (...) I have bought from her a couple of times and have been very happy. I see nothing wrong with what she is doing: 1. Nobody is being forced to buy her stock. 2. She has not bought up the whole stock (as others have with other sets). Scott A (20 years ago, 23-May-04, to lugnet.dear-lego)
