Dear LEGO,

As many people on LUGNET know I have been trying to increase my collection of
LEGO flowers and Classic Trees.  The reason why I have turned to LUGNET is
because I am finding it nearly impossible to find these parts any more.  I
realize that these parts have not been common in sets for a couple of years
except for a stray flower is a hugh Town Jr. set but at least we had buckets
that usually came with a couple flowers.

Now it seems that not even the Basic/Classic sets come with flowers and I
havn't seen a classic tree in years.  I realize that with the marketing focus
on Boys that flowers, trees, and plant life in general is not a priority in the
sets and I don't have a hugh problem with that although I would prefer a more
unisex product line.

I guess my hope is that LEGO Direct will be able to provide us with parts like
this.  I personally like landscaping my projects quite a bit and it really adds
the finishing touches that I am looking for when creating buildings.  If LEGO
Direct could offer us Classic trees (Great topiary bushes) in all shapes and
sizes and Flowers in Red, White, Yellow, Blue, Pink, DkPink, and maybe Purple
and Orange as well it would be a dream come true and I could build that big
European Guarden for my village that I really want to do.

I've recently built part of Rebel compound in the spirit of the moon of Yavin IV
(i.e., tropical), and I had the problem of not owning enough vegetation (and in
particular flowers).  I came up with the following design for a large flowering
tropical plant, and I think that it came out quite nice:

Pieces:

1 brown 2x2 round plate (from Speeder Bikes)
1 green 4x4x2 cone (from Gasgano's pod)
9 green 1x1 round bricks (from Gasgano's pod)
5 red 1x1 round plates
4 white 1x1 round plates

Turn the brown plate upside down, and attach the cone.  Thus, the green cone
will be inverted, with the brown plate as a base (studs down), and the green
female stud receptacles will be pointing up.  Next, attach a 1x1 round brick to
the top of a 1x1 round plate.  Do this 8 more times.  Next, invert said round
brick/round plate units, and attach 5 units to receptacles of inverted cone.
Finally place 1 of the remaining inverted round brick/plate units in each of the
respective spaces between cone receptacles and cone walls.  (There will be 4
such spaces--one in each corner of the cone.)  Offset these round units so that
they lie at an angle, facing away from the upright units.

I hope that this explanation makes sense.  I apologize for not having a scanned
picture.  Anyway, though  this plant cannot be attached to a baseplate, it is
wide enough to stay upright, and I think that it compliments a vegetated
landscape.
