I think that having all instances of a particular part appear only once in
a report of each inventory would be a good thing. However, I don't care
for the thought of losing information; bag information may be very hard to
recover once a set is no longer MISB.
The ideal solution would be to have the interface able to ignore certain
fields and glomm similar records together. E.g., normally you view an
inventory with identical parts from different bags combined, but the data
is still there and you could alternately view the inventory with bag
information (even sorted by bag?), say when you want to pick out the
pieces you will need to complete each stage assembly of the model. This
could be a good general-purpose capability---for example, the same idea
would let you see how many 1x2 bricks any (or all) sets have, regardless
of color, or how many torsos a set has, regardless of color or pattern. .
.unfortunately, this would probably be a hassle to code, and not really
much value for the cost.
