  Re: Color Change background

(...) My intent is not to shoot the messenger. I get the impression that Jake does share our pain, but I get the feeling that he's the only one within the company that does. And you'd think after the whole New Coke fiasco companies would be very (...) (20 years ago, 14-May-04, to lugnet.color, FTX)

Re: Top secret project - we need your help

(...) I went for lots of SNOT parts, as well as the parts to make big trees and the small baseplates that should be made available separately. Flex tubing is also a must! It's great for pneumatics (rigid tubes mean less balloon effect) as well as (...) (20 years ago, 14-May-04, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.color, FTX)

  Re: Color Change background

(...) I'm sure this is the sort of thesting Coke did on New Coke. They wanted to come out with a product that tasted better than Pepsi. They may have gotten many unbiased testers to do a blind taste test and overwhelmingly picked New Coke over (...) (20 years ago, 14-May-04, to lugnet.color, FTX)

  Re: Color Change background

No, I wasn't - I was asking him for verification. Where I used "organic" lower in my post, I was using it as in "organic tint". Completely separate from my request for verification on Jake's remark. (...) -- Tom Stangl *(URL) Visual FAQ home *(URL) (...) (20 years ago, 14-May-04, to lugnet.color)

  Re: The Knight Bus problem

You know, if they blew out the current run at 75% off, I'd gladly buy 20 or more. Then I could sort out the various purples, and build several buses, each a slightly different shade. But it would have to be 75% off to get me interested, as I (...) (20 years ago, 14-May-04, to lugnet.color)

  Re: Color Change background

(...) So it's no longer a good toy? What exactly does corporate wisdom and marketing strategy have to do with the value of those bricks as a toy? I for one will always be happy to see my children crouched down in front of a pile of LEGO exercising (...) (20 years ago, 14-May-04, to lugnet.color, FTX)

  Re: The Knight Bus problem

(...) That's true, because purple and magenta need a material that emits both violet and red light waves, thus having a valley shaped reflectance curve. Paulo (20 years ago, 14-May-04, to lugnet.color)

  Re: Color Change background

(...) "what color is the sky on your planet?" was the first thing that came to mind when I read the above. When you read Jakes post realy, there are tons of newsworthy facts! -there were way too much different colors, -there were way too much (...) (20 years ago, 14-May-04, to lugnet.color)

  Re: The Knight Bus problem

At least they didn't try to say the color variation is a "feature" rather than the "bug" it is! James Wilson Dallas, TX (20 years ago, 14-May-04, to lugnet.color, FTX)

  Re: Color Change background

(...) Incredibly well said! Furthermore: Today I was in Target, and a young boy and his mom were searching up and down the LEGO aisle for a set. I offered to help them out and asked what they were looking for: "the LEGO Optimus Prime" was the (...) (20 years ago, 14-May-04, to lugnet.color, FTX)

  Re: The Knight Bus problem

(...) There are people which still believe the above is true. Everything below is just my personal opinion so there is no reason to jump on me in these sensitive times (hi larry ;) ) The last 'true' Technic set is the Barcode Truck (1997). Then (...) (20 years ago, 14-May-04, to lugnet.color)

  Re: Color Change background

(...) No. My primary goal is still to help Lego. I still build MOCs, I still go to exhibitions with them, although I abstain from recommending it as a good toy based on the current actions of this company. I would be happy if Lego could announce (...) (20 years ago, 14-May-04, to lugnet.color)

  Re: The Knight Bus problem

(...) Yes, actually I have. Trust me on this, it will take several years with results like the one for 2003 to bring this company to it's knees. It is still a very well-consolidated company. And should the results get worse, they have a very wealthy (...) (20 years ago, 14-May-04, to lugnet.color)

  Re: Color Change background

(...) But you are misinterpreting the applicability of the WORD organic as Jake used it. It was used by Jake to describe the color introduction PROCESS, not anything about the colors themselves. (20 years ago, 14-May-04, to lugnet.color)

  Re: Color Change background

(...) I disagree. I wonder if you are bound and determined to see the worst in everything LEGO does. What *I* saw in that thread was the following information that Consumer Affairs gathered and shared. an admission that there is variance which can (...)   Re: The Knight Bus problem

(...) Maybe because it would cost money they currently don't have? Have you followed the news about Legos financial situation or the massive layoffs recently? (...) Maybe some kids don't. But the set makes Lego look cheap as in "cheap clone from (...) (20 years ago, 14-May-04, to lugnet.color)

  Re: Color Change background

OK since this is now 100% set in stone, perhaps there's one more thing that can be done : There is another run of pre-2004 sets, will they contain the new colors, and if so how can we recognize the difference from the outside. Is there any way a (...) (20 years ago, 14-May-04, to lugnet.color)

  Re: The Knight Bus problem

(...) I agree, I don't think this particular set lives up to TLC's core values nor their quality policy as it is expressed in their latest annual report page 21 "In LEGO Company we aim to exceed our Consumer's expectations of our products, our (...) (20 years ago, 14-May-04, to lugnet.color)

  Re: Color Change background

As several others have stated, I too appreciate your efforts to explain the color changes. This explanation goes a long way in convincing us there were no other, hidden reasons beyond esthetical design. It explains the rol of the Design Lab and the (...) (20 years ago, 14-May-04, to lugnet.color)

  Re: The Knight Bus problem

(...) When you answer this, you should propably point them to this page: (URL) and ask them on how their acceptance of obvious quality issues as within the limits can coexist with those core values. The big problem is that the whole production of (...) (20 years ago, 14-May-04, to lugnet.color)
