(...) Nah, there are some truly old in-store displays out there (I remember seeing images of a Classic Space version that someone had managed to obtain). The more recent wave, I believe, goes back to the debut of either Star Wars or Harry Potter, (...) (18 years ago, 11-Apr-07, to lugnet.color, FTX)

Tommy, Todd, Tim and everyone else: I've snipped off the stuff from the beginning--it makes for too long a read. Apologies to all in advance. I agree with you all. It's tough to maintain a set color palette forever, and the UV shift over time can be (...) (18 years ago, 10-Apr-07, to lugnet.color, FTX)

(...) There are very few things in life that I can consider myself as an expert, but the one thing is color matching and quality control of color in a manufacturing process and at the point of purchase. For 30 years I worked in a small paint (...) (18 years ago, 10-Apr-07, to lugnet.color)

(...) I agree with this 100%. Random colour variation opens up opportunity to make more realistic models. To All, I would like to state my $0.02 on this color issue and perhaps open up a new dialog on the whole color variation issue. First, I agree that in the past the LEGO Company has done an outstanding job with keeping the color consistent from batch (...) (18 years ago, 10-Apr-07, to lugnet.color)

It's a definite possibility, and the only one that would mesh with the claim that they were bringing the three affected colors more in line with the rest of the color palette (even regular blue and dark-green have a distinct warm undertone and (...) (...) Do you suppose the real reason behind the color change was to make the product visually "jump off the shelves" under the crappy lighting in Wal-Mart? This would make more sense than any other rationale I've heard so far, except that you (...) (18 years ago, 10-Apr-07, to lugnet.color, FTX)
