Anyways, please let me know what you think about the whole administration
issue.  I really would like to find out where people stand.  I don't recall
if this has ever come up before.  Also, should Bryan be reinstated as a
member?  If that's what the majority of the membership wants, I'll comply.

Firstly Nathan, I think I speak for everyone when I express thanks for
handling the administrative duties of CW for so long now.  I hope that my
dissenting from your actions earlier in the week did not somehow equate to
my disliking or being ungrateful for ANY other action you have taken as
administrator of CW. So many thanks for a job so well done for so long!!! It
is no small thing...

As to this other matter, I DO think Bryan should be reinstated as a CW
member.  Let us welcome him back if he can keep a civil tongue, and too let
us welcome him MUCH CHASTISED! I never had a problem with what he had to say
if he wanted to express a negative opinion about something; at the same time
I think we all had a problem with his chosen mode of expression and I think
he should understand this by now. I don't think that what Bryan did was
"that" bad inasmuch as he stayed within the umbrella Lugnet TOS agreement.
We have to be careful to distinuish between speech that we don't like or
agree with, and speech that constitutes a violation of the TOS or unspoken
CW rules of tact so egregious that we should turn our collective backs on
someone.  Yes, Bryan could use some lessons in how to deliver bad news; but
no, Bryan shouldn't be banned from CW.

I like to think of CW as something that everyone can belong to.  CW should
be a gathering place for like-minded persons to exchange fanciful ideas and
have fun.  I also like to think of CW members as choosing themselves into
the scheme to the extent that they wish to participate. I would tend to
resist any measures that would tend to dictate to others what they can or
cannot do with their ballads/realms, or measures that would tend to dictate
who may or may not participate in CW.

That's what I think.

Again, thanks for everything Nathan.  And thanks too for having a level head
about these things.  Let's all grow into it together...there's bound to be
bumps here and there.

=)

To all, I'd like to apologize for hastily coming to a decision to remove Bryan from the membership without bringing it up before everyone. I did contact a few members and asked their opinion before doing what I did but I should have brought it up (...) (23 years ago, 13-Jul-01, to lugnet.castle.org.cw)
