Hi everyone,

It's been a while (about 8 months) since I've been on LUGNET -- I had
to take
a break from LEGO as real life took over.  Now I'm easing back into
it gently,
trying not to spend every dime on new bricks.  :)

Boy, do I know the feeling <g> I should start smoking, or something, to
justify the amount of spending I do - spread the "wasting" of money (as it's
been referred to) around... <shrug>

I'm sure this has been discussed many times now, but I'd like to get
a fresh
perspective from people that I sort of know from before.

What's your stance on open vs. sealed LEGO sets?  I recently
purchased
several older castle sets on Ebay.  To my surprise, these sets are in
much
better shape than I expected with little or no box wear.  It almost
seems
a shame to open them up, but they really don't bring me any enjoyment
sealed and shelved.  On the other hand, they weren't cheap either, so
I
don't want them to fade in light, etc...

Anyone else go through this?  What did you decide?

IMO, as long as the seller claims all the pieces are with whichever set I
may be looking at, then I will buy it. I don't get *any* enjoyment with a
sealed Lego box on my shelf, so why spend more money? Furthermore, I would
only buy a set if I (A.) didn't have it. (B.) Needed a specific, hard to
find figure of piece, or (C.) For the figures alone. There's no way would I
ever buy a set to keep it sealed.
