Hi everyone,

It's been a while (about 8 months) since I've been on LUGNET -- I had
to take
a break from LEGO as real life took over.  Now I'm easing back into
it gently,
trying not to spend every dime on new bricks.  :)

I'm sure this has been discussed many times now, but I'd like to get
a fresh
perspective from people that I sort of know from before.

What's your stance on open vs. sealed LEGO sets?  I recently
purchased
several older castle sets on Ebay.  To my surprise, these sets are in
much
better shape than I expected with little or no box wear.  It almost
seems
a shame to open them up, but they really don't bring me any enjoyment
sealed and shelved.  On the other hand, they weren't cheap either, so
I
don't want them to fade in light, etc...

Anyone else go through this?  What did you decide?

Thanks,

Chris

If you bought them on eBay, it wasn't for resale.  So RIP THE BOX OPEN!  Now!
Shred it except for the back panel with alternative models.  Chew on the
pieces a bit until you calm down.  Now, build like crazy in a frenzied
paroxysm of delight.  You can always rip it apart and put it back together
again slowly, sipping fine wine and playing Sheherazade in the background.

They do no earthly good sitting on a shelf unless you got 'em cheap and intend
to sell them later on.

Bruce

You may wish to skip the box destruction, but I don't let them clutter up the
house and have yet to sell a set other than an unopened one bought at 70-80%
off.
