Re: Robert Jordan WOT (was Re: Harry Potter Lego Line)

(...) Right on target! George R.R. Martin seems to be a "writer's writer" because I hear his name from people on author panels and invariably nobody in the room recognizes it! Since you said it again I must now look him up! You know what is funny (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jul-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.castle)

6-sided Pillar Idea, was Re: Ceasar Legos???

The other night I wanted a fluted pillar. One where the lines run vertical! Messing around with my Belville parts box I hit upon the following: Take a 6-sides flower, the kind that come with Ages 2-5 sets, or Milimy sets. (Classic Set 4215 on (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jul-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Ceasar Legos???

(...) Hey! Good idea! You are proof that this good idea continues to be a good idea to lots of new people! Consider becoming an "Ancient Theme" fan! There have probably been fans of this idea as long as there has been Lego, but recently we have got (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jul-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Musical advice - kinda OT, kinda not

(...) Speaking of Yoko Kanno, she held a miniconcert at last year's Otakon. @anime recorded and digitized the four piano pieces she played. You can download them in MP3 format here: (URL) played the opening from Vision of Escaflowne, Voices from (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jul-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Ceasar Legos???

Me and a friend were discussing lego themes when we began to think about a roman theme. Stacking white colored barrels would make a good pillar. I'm not sure if you can stack the large barrels, but if you can that would be even better. NICK :-L (24 years ago, 16-Jul-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Robert Jordan WOT (was Re: Harry Potter Lego Line)

A friend of mine suggested the Coldfire trilogy by C.S. Friedman. Black Sun Rising Crown of Shadows When True Night Falls Give 'em a read. They're excellent. ~Mark (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jul-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.castle)

Re: Robert Jordan WOT (was Re: Harry Potter Lego Line)

(...) Absolutely right. On the other hand, the reason why Tolkien's stuff is so much better than the scads of imitators is because it's a 'first-generation copy' rather than second or third. Tolkien did such extensive research into the reality of (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jul-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.castle)

Re: Robert Jordan WOT (was Re: Harry Potter Lego Line)

(...) While Tolkien has no equal, I take exception to your statements. There are many "medieval fantasies" that are not derivatives of Tolkien, but the demand for them wouldn't exist if not for Tolkien. Undoubtedly there are some less original (...) (...) white (...) nothing (...) [coughing] rip-off [end coughing] Can you say Two Towers the second book of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Any other medieval fantasy is pretty much a rip-off of Tolkien's work. While it may not be the best reading it (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jul-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.castle)

Hey everyone, Some of you know already that I'm leaving for 5 weeks to Israel. On the agenda, among camp, also regaining my old collection (somehow I don't think it'll seem be so big now!) as well as taking over my cousin's. And I couldn't forget (...)   Paradisa Castle built

I have completed my Paradisa castle. It covers a 6x16 mint green plate, and stands 6 inches tall excluding the parasol on the tower. Its not big, but I think its a great-looking model.
