No arguments here with anyone, but I would make a small plea for printed walls
(i.e. tudor, pirate arch brick patterns, dark grey on grey rock patterns, grey
on black rock patterns, etc.) -- these are appealing for a variety of reasons
having nothing to do with juniorization and everything to do with decorative
options.
Otherwise 1x3 bricks, 1x5 bricks, and 1x3 arches are the way to go in ALL
colors.
I think what happens is that absent any 1x3 arches in their own collections,
Lego fans do not realize that it is possible to build the wall pieces that
were later modularized into a single unit from several different available
bricks. It was only after I acquired some black 1x3 arches that I realized
how easy it would have been to simply build these "walls" from available
bricks (and as Shiri points out, without quite so many windows).
It's all about 1x?s and arches...we need more!
Interestingly, I think a new day may be dawning for TLC. Maybe it's a weird
meds interaction, but I envision a day when having an idea for a MOC I can
just ring up Lego Direct for the needed elements not in my possession and
obtain them as easily as I might a tube of oil paint from an art supply store
when I have an idea for a painting. This is the way it should always have
been, and the way it should be. I should be limited only by my ideas and my
wallet, and not by what TLC decides I should or should not have in some
wastefully large set. Elements are merely the means to realize an idea and of
no value in and of themselves.

They were a sort of thick plastic 'sticker' that you (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jun-00, to lugnet.castle)
