  New Knight's Kingdom Prices

I hope I'm not the only one that is slightly disappointed with the new Knights Kingdom. Mostly it's because of the continuing trend by LEGO to make it nearly impossible to buy large quantities of minifigs. They did a nice job last time around by (...) (20 years ago, 7-Jun-04, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: New Knight's Kingdom Prices

(...) Actually the rise in oil prices has the potential to directly affect a number of aspects of the LEGO businees: - Transport costs - Plastics are made with oil and other hydrocarbons - Industrial machines require lubrication - Most electricity (...) (20 years ago, 7-Jun-04, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: New Knight's Kingdom Prices

(...) I'm never sure whether to be amused or aggravated when I see people griping about how much more LEGO sets cost now than they did when they were growing up. The one simple answer that noone seems to figure out is "inflation". Think about it. (...) (20 years ago, 7-Jun-04, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.general)

  Re: New Knight's Kingdom Prices

Before you go running off on tangents, let's get one thing straight, Lego was in the red in those years, not because of poor sales for Lego sets, but for poor sales in their other ventures, clothing, pens, etc. Now a different spin I would like to (...) (20 years ago, 8-Jun-04, to lugnet.general)

Purple Dave wrote: [snip] (...) [snip] (...) [snip] (...) Hi Dave, although your message may have some valid points, the ones about LEGO in Czech Republic are not. Following info is from reliable source: There are about 300 employees in Kladno (...) (20 years ago, 9-Jun-04, to lugnet.general)

  Re: New Knight's Kingdom Prices

(...) My source on sets being packaged in the Czech Republic was the 2002 LEGO Brand Guide, which was part of a 4-book set given out at NY Toy Fair. It states that "LEGO elements are molded and decorated in Denmark and Switzerland, while they are (...) (20 years ago, 9-Jun-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: New Knight's Kingdom Prices

(...) Poor sales of certain themes also contributed. I'm not sure where the loss in 1998 came from, but Galidor, the first wave of NHL sets (we'll have to see how the new minifig-scale sets do), and the NBA theme all pretty much tanked in their (...) (20 years ago, 9-Jun-04, to lugnet.general)

  Re: New Knight's Kingdom Prices

(...) While primarily correct, there have been several examples of TLC farming out some items to China (PRC). The ones I have noticed are: Galidor action figures, The recent McD's promos and (IIRC) the Bionicles from the previous cycle with McD's. I (...) (20 years ago, 10-Jun-04, to lugnet.general)

  Re: New Knight's Kingdom Prices

(...) Huh. Interesting. I'd never noticed that, but indeed the package says that the parts were made in China. It reminds me of my two Craftsman adjustable wrenches that were also made in China (they're 2" wrenches that were made for use as (...) (20 years ago, 10-Jun-04, to lugnet.general)

  Re: New Knight's Kingdom Prices

Hi, (...) This is _current_ info. Re: packing - I was told only Dacta packing occurs here, not the regular sets. (...) That's why I compared US MSRP of $99 (you pay sales tax at cash register, right?) and Czech price without the tax (we have tax (...) (20 years ago, 10-Jun-04, to lugnet.general)

  Re: New Knight's Kingdom Prices

(...) Actually, there've been three Bionicle-related McPromos, although the middle one didn't come with actual sets. In mid-May 2002, the (URL) Bohrok Swarm trading card packs> were released with "Big Kid" meals. Back on topic: the larger Knights' (...) (20 years ago, 10-Jun-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: New Knight's Kingdom Prices

(...) I wasn't really counting that promo specifically because it didn't involve any manufactured plastic parts. Besides, not only was the promo restricted to playing cards, but they were actually produced by Upper Deck, not TLC, so I'm not sure how (...) (20 years ago, 10-Jun-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)
