I can't speak for Anthony or Kevin, but my
personal world (Yeaen, in which is found the
nations of Caerany and Olmany) is fully built
with a drawn map.  I get the feeling that
others may have similiar details to their
own worlds. Also there's the problem of having
to nail down certain details.  For instance,
I'm not aware of a map of Ikros, so if it were
to be incorporated, one would have to be created.

That's why I drew a map before I even
started working on my story. (well, a
very rough sketch, anyway.) Had to have
borders of some sort to work around,
and by far it seems to work.

By the way, why didn't Anthony do a map?

My vision of IOM was that it was a
mystical place, and voyaging there involved
some sort of ill-defined transportation
away from your ordinary world to another.
I don't personally believe that it involved
an implicite understanding that all fantasy
worlds were connected, but just left the
problems associated in a kind of foggy mist.

Eh...I never had the chance to participate
in IOM, but I would have eventually devised
some sort of otherwordly theory on how a
character could get there. (So, Osprey is
exploring some ancient ruins, when he
stumbles upon a rack of ancient avian ships.
Climbing into one of the ancient devices
and examining the cockpit, he triggers a
beacon which consequently causes the damned
machine to lift off, accelerating through
a shaft and into the skies, only to stall
above the misty island and crash.) Well,
that's why I would have done, anyway...would
have served of interest to have a citizen
from an advanced city to clash with those
from the past.

(...) Two reasons: One - at the time I had no clue on how to create a good looking map. Thanks to some new programs and some tips from Kevin Hall, I could make one now. Two - I don't think Ikros needs a map. To me, some things are just better left (...) (22 years ago, 8-Feb-03, to lugnet.castle)

(...) Anthony didnt do a map because he cant. he told me that. I can though. I dont stealing from tolkein, like, directly such as a map. orcs, etc are fine with me though. Aramir (22 years ago, 10-Feb-03, to lugnet.castle)
