As I recall, sally port you are referring to was a small door in the wall
that opened up facing into a small crease between the wall and the mountain
behind, at an angle where it would be impossible for attackers to get a
direct run at the door.  Some more devoted Tolkienite may come forward with

I really like what you have done with the minifigs, especially the evil
army.  They look even better in action than they do in your excellent
brickshelf stillshots.  My only suggestions--if the hornburg is still set

when the battle took place, and the baddies were carrying countless torches.
I am not a camera whiz, so I don't know how you could achieve this effect.
Secondly, take about 2,000 Burps and build a back wall for the whole set-up:)
