shiri-

to begin with, your post is always welcome, no matter its punctuality. (sp)

- In general your spelling is just fine, but like every human being you've
got a couple of typos here and there... it's hard for the writer to spot
their own typos on the screen. A good idea might be to print out the text
(not the pictures! Just copy&paste the text into Word or some'n), read it
printed, and mark any corrections. (I should follow my own advice about
that, too. ;-)

hehehhehe. I always work too fast and never proofread.  I swear that I will
before the next update.

- When you're linking to the comic page, I see no point in having an
intermediate, nearly-empty page... just link straight to brickshelf, or make
a page with the comics included.

good idea. ugh. sometimes i just never think of the right thing. im new to this
kind of thing.. writing webpages..

- By the same token, you might want to remove links to part 4 and 5 as long
as you haven't written them. :-)

hehehhehe.. i figured no one would have gone there yet, but tonight im writing
part 4 and within the next week or two ill have part 5. its already writen,
just needs to be photoed and put up.

All in all, your story is really great. I hope you don't mind if I use this
as a discussion jumping-board...:

I see a few similarities between your stories to my ideas of Scar and the
Justice Wolves... the rebellions, seeking justice, etcetera. It's funny, you
know - after all, the thought of rebellion or peaceful sit-ins would never
have even crossed the mind of real medieval peasants. I've been studying
that time period (feudalism) in a course this term, and the thing my
professor kept stressing was that medieval people would never even consider
trying to change their status. Royalty were royalty and peasants were
peasants, that's the way it was, and no peasant would even *think* of
dreaming to rise above their status; it just *wasn't in their nature*. Of
*course* people aren't equal, was their mindframe. It's so hard for us,
"modern" people to comprehend that - of course they wanted freedom, we
think... and yet, they didn't! Isn't that just so mind-boggling?

It is.  But of course Caerany is nothing like Europe in its Medieval history.
The big thing is I wanted to bring into my story some discussion of class and
the nature of freedom (surrounded by the character of Kian the Rebel).  At the
same time, Caerany is land where the "royalty" hadn't grown domestically.. the
mels and melkyas, rather than being a nobility, are more of a first among
equals.  The system of jirgas and qurlitays is reminiscent of pre-civilized
societies, they are pre-class.  So for the peasants in my world, the very idea
of nobility (being introduced by the invading Lonsans) is a foreign idea.

Perhaps i'm trying to communicate that the idea of nobility (ie. class, etc) is
a foreign (ie. not apart of the masses, the people themselves) idea.  but
something forced onto them by outside forces.  Then, of course, you would say
that the nobility should be included in your portrayal of the people; that
supposedly it was these people who created the idea of class.  And then again,
perhaps im just writing a silly lego story.

But i have taken the time to think about what you're saying.  Medieval Caerany
is not Medieval Europe (as there were no wizards, mages, etc either).  So i've
tried to include some of the same historical forces operating on the people,
but perhaps in a way that is different from what you might suspect.

and one last thing: the idea of protests, etc is something that is somewhat
foreign to most people of the time.  In the future, Kian becomes respected as a
innovator in political theory.  His ideas eventually lead to a series of
revolutions for the next century (much the same way the american and french
revolutions lead the way for the democratization of europe).

Also, I have another, unrelated question... would you mind if I used your
weapons' pictures to make a weapons entry for the castle FAQ? Your pictures
are very sharp and good... in fact, I just suggested that Cary simply link
to your page. But since you've got some story-related discussion there, I
thought maybe I could use some of your pictures and slap together a quick
"weapon names and common uses" page. Would that be cool with you?

im honored that you would ask this.  of course!

It makes me mad that no one replies to your posts. I can't quite figure out
why - I think you're too modest, for one reason. :-)

I think there is a tendancy to post more about MOC's and less about stories and
such (i haven't researched this, but i betcha the Castle of Talinor got more
posts than Sava's Chapter 23.. perhaps an extreme example, but i think it may
be valid).  Either way, i don't care much.  it's not great; but then again im
doing this story because I WANT TO.  (look under my profile: rule#3: don't get
attached to the results)

i just try to do to others what i want them to do to me.

Also, it helps sometimes to provide links to your individual stories. I, for
one, couldn't find the "news" link that you mentioned, and was about to post
about it, but luckily clicked on "part1" and found the story. :-)

I've recently (two days ago) decided to change my focus from a 'news' (which
should be new creations in the world, etc) to a 'story' (this is the account of
the caeric revolution, OR the war between olmans and caers, etc) and so the old
post is out of date in this manner.  of course, i think i will start doing this
in the future.

Good luck and please, continue persevering! I enjoy your stories greatly.

thank you very much, as always.  you really are the heart of lugnet.castle

peace and freedom

(...) Sorry this post is soooo long behind yours. I've been slacking on my reading, but I was looking for your site and stumbled upon this post. Since I enjoy your stories, I figured I'd check them out. Wow, you've added a ton since I've last (...) (22 years ago, 2-Feb-02, to lugnet.castle)
