  Re: povray

(...) I don't know anything about saving the data structure to disk. However, I think that the reason for the parser to take som much time and memory on L3P'd scenes is that the format L3P generates is not best suited for POV-Ray. I think there (...) (25 years ago, 10-Nov-99, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: povray

(...) I didn't get any answer from Kevin, so I made my own DAT explorer program. It was about time I learned to do some Perl CGI stuff anyway. The interface is slightly different from Kevin's, but I've borrowed many ideas. I've credited him on the (...) (25 years ago, 15-Nov-99, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: povray

I haven't released the source yet because it's not ready for prime time. I will release the source under GPL when I feel it's ready. (part of my hesitation has to do with CGI security concerns). Actually, if someone who knows C and has a real fast (...) (25 years ago, 15-Nov-99, to lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.general)

  Re: povray

(...) That was what I suspected. I simply wanted to play around a bit with the idea, just for the fun of it. It's a pity it's slow... Just one suggestion/idea: How about (...) (25 years ago, 16-Nov-99, to lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.cad)

  Re: povray

(...) Thanks! I was a bit worried that all the arrow-buttons are be a bit confusing. They probably are, too, at least in the beginning. While Kevin Loch's interface lets you move in specified directions, my interface is more in the "Doom" tradition, (...) (25 years ago, 16-Nov-99, to lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.cad)

  Re: povray

(...) I agree walking through or around a model is a pretty cool idea, but I get frustrated by how slowly I walk :) I think a few set views would be great to get an overall image of the model. Then if I wanted to see details or interiors, I could (...) (25 years ago, 17-Nov-99, to lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.cad)

  Re: povray

(...) You know what, I actually think you are right. :-) (...) Yes. I'd like to try my "walk through" on a larger scene, which could actually be walked through, but the computer running the program doesn't have enough RAM to render a large model. (...)
