LGEO does have textured slopes, not mapped but calculated on the fly by POV.
The effect is similar to that of the pics in the books.

Here is more odd stuff:

On the cover, notice how the wheels in the truck are defined as *shiny*
black plastic instead of *matt* black rubber . This is yet another
coincidence: many Ldraw-L3P-LGEO-POV users often overlook that detail. In
Ldraw, when you think texturing, you think about color and assume everything
is made of plastic. But this is not how most computer 3D illustrators would
think. This happens again on page 3 (including a pic of an isolated wheel)
