IMHO it is high time to revise the entire L3P -check Messages page and set a new
standard for holding a part. Thoughts?

This page definitely needs to be updated, if only to add text saying that
planarcheck should be used instead for checking non-coplanar quads.  I didn't
see the lugnet post when that standard changed, and it's hard or impossible to
find the new rules from the parts tracker.  The l3p page should also have a link
somewhere to that file format restrictions page you mentioned.

Actually, this page should probably be removed.  The official library standards
are listed in one place:
http://www.ldraw.org/Article292.html#partsstandards
Any other documents are probably out of date.

IMHO the page is quiet useful giving you a guideline when to hold a part and
when not. You cannot expect a reviewer flicking through several pages to find
out if the error he has spotted is reason enough to hold the part.

To kickstart I'm gonna put down a list with the changes needed:

* Planarcheck has to be used instead of L3P when checking for non-coplanar quads
- http://news.lugnet.com/cad/?n=15016

Current version of DATHeader checks this.

* Colinear check - http://news.lugnet.com/cad/?n=16258. As far as I remember
this has been added to LDDP. Orion?

Current version of DATHeader checks this.

* No prog checking for embedded POV-Ray code -
http://www.ldraw.org/Article479.html

Coming version of DATHeader will also check for POV-Code.

* Datheader checking for unofficial color numbers not listed in LDConfig.ldr

* Datheader checking for main and edge colors -
http://www.ldraw.org/Article512.html

* CA-Header - http://www.ldraw.org/Article398.html As far as I know Chris is
recoding the PT script which will lead to the PT rejecting part without a proper
header

Please help filling in.

Please see the document what DATHeader is testing for at
http://datheader.mikeheide.kilu.de/datheadertests.html.

Except the POV code test I think it is a complete list of things that got a hold
vote or at least not certified on the PT during the last two years.
