(...) If the subdirectory system can be worked out accurately and duplicated on users' machines, then I am for it instead. As soon as an MPD is split, all the FILE lines disappear, so you must leave in a 'Name:' Ex: 0 Title for the MPD 0 Name: filename.mpd 0 Author: Author 0 Comments 0 0 FILE file1.dat <---during MPD parsing, (...) (...) Actually, LDraw and LEdit _do_ support directories. You just have to specify the directory in the DAT file. How do you think the s\ directory under parts\ works?
