  Re: [ldraw.org] Update

(...) Like, right underneath the logo-bar. How about: "This site is better than official! It's [fan created], and The LEGO Group has nothing to do with!" Steve (25 years ago, 20-Aug-99, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: [ldraw.org] Update

(...) The more I think about it, I think a simple letter would do. But first I think we should experiment a bit with different logos and present them printed on the letter so they can review them right there and state their preference. Once I get (...)   Re: [ldraw.org] Update

(...) On the small logos it probably would not work, so another solution would have to be devised for that. (...) I'd prefer to keep it red. I don't think a wireframe fade would be considered under TLG's trade dress if a squabble arose. (...) I (...) (25 years ago, 20-Aug-99, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw, lugnet.publish)

  Re: [ldraw.org] Update

(...) Well, if we were to contact TLG, what would be the best approach to it, to get on their good side? I'm not totally objected to contacting them, I just would like to make sure we've done everything we can to have them not jump on us beforehand. (...)   Re: [ldraw.org] Update

(...) Personally I didn't think twice about the Adequate.com red brick on the button. 1) I don't see it around that often and 2) to me the red 2x2 doesn't represent TLG (but to some it may). (...)   Re: [ldraw.org] Update

(...) I'm not sure how well that image would work as a small icon. But it would be cool. As long as it was a color other than red, it would probably be OK. A plain wireframe brick would be good as a logo, as well. Particularly if it did the (...) (25 years ago, 20-Aug-99, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw, lugnet.publish)

  Re: [ldraw.org] Update

So, why not change it to blue or yellow or any other color. That way we keep the brick, but let Lego keep their red 2xN bricks. Would this work?? I'd personally prefer the red, but if we want to avoid any problems with the red 2xN brick use changing (...) (25 years ago, 20-Aug-99, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw, lugnet.publish)

  Re: [ldraw.org] Update

(...) Not contacting them is a simpler short-term solution. And it's one that is often used. I haven't asked them about the 2x3 brick icon used by LDAO, both as the program icon, and on the LDAO homepage. But calling inaction a "wiser solution" is (...)   Re: [ldraw.org] Update

(...) Yeah, as much as I think this whole "trade dress" thing is silly, I agree 100% with Todd right here. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE ldraw.org - I love all the hard work that's gone into it.   Re: [ldraw.org] Update

Tim: The new article on MLCad is good. I like the linking graphics, but Todd is correct in pointing out the potential problem. Since we can be sure TLG will see the site soon (if they haven't been there yet), we can just as well be polite and ask (...) (25 years ago, 20-Aug-99, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw, lugnet.publish)

  Re: [ldraw.org] Update

(...) IANAL, so I may be way off base, but I wouldn't worry quite as much about that image, for several reasons: 1) It's got a blinking "Search..." on the side; it's not a static image of a brick.
