Does this mean that if there are 2 parts called x530.dat that only one of them will
be released?

Yes.  And I won't even commit to exactly which one would be released (probably
the one I received more recently, because that works with authors sending
several different versions of their parts as they fix them).

Actually, I don't *think* this issue has come up.  I was just trying to be
complete in my posting.

I hope that you would have the sense to take the few minutes to assign one of them
to an unused x number :)

No, I won't do that.  And that's because I do have sense.  "the few minutes"
tends to get multiplied greatly when dealing with 231 files, many (perhaps most)
needing one or more changes, each change taking just a few minutes.  What about
files that have flagrantly invalid file names?  Or obviously invalid part names?
Or any of a number of other issues?

Besides the issue of the time needed to fix a problem once it's found, there's
also the time it takes to look for and identify problems.  The 'look for' time
would possibly be greater than the 'fix it' time.

This is an "unofficial official" release.  The whole idea is to put the files
out there with the minimum work and fuss.  Anything that is not absolutely
necessary will not be done.

I apologize if that sounds harsh, or high-handed.  It's not meant that way.
It's just the way it is.

Steve
