  Re: Getting Started (Corrections) !

(...) Thanks for pointing it out. Terry Keller has been working with the downloadable archive, and a few things could have changed in that time. For example, I believe the ldraw.exe file offered now includes those in it, but don't quote me on that. (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Organizing the LDraw CD-ROM

(...) As of now, 1.1 resides on the CD master. I'll make a definite note to take a look and get the later version. Lars is still around, I believe Terry Keller has had email contact with them (in preparation for KidV) recently. Thanks for the (...)   Re: Organizing the LDraw CD-ROM

(...) Interesting question. Because the mythical OMR doesn't exist yet, we're not including that on the CD. But we also need to take up space (to increase the amount of size - strange Povray redistribution rules and money). So I believe we can take (...)   Re: Organizing the LDraw CD-ROM

Hey Tim, Will L3P v1.2 be on the CDROM? I can't seem to get a copy from anywhere. If anybody knows where a copy can be found, please let me know. Lars seems to be MIA. -Chuck (24 years ago, 11-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: Organizing the LDraw CD-ROM

Hey tim, would it be possible to include samples of .dats and POV rendered files on the cd? If so, I have nearly finished my .dat of 8448 - V8 Supercar MkII. All I need is the wheels, so it should be finished when they are. Will you accept samples (...) (24 years ago, 11-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: Modelling !

(...) Oh no! I did the same misteak as the guys in "The Spinal Tap"! (They ordered a scene prop at 18" by 18", but meant 18' by 18'.) The next thing you'll know, I'll probably be buying amplifiers which go to eleven. (FU: lugnet.off-topic.fun) (...) (24 years ago, 11-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: Getting Started (Corrections) !

(...) I noticed this too, and mentioned it in passing a while ago. A minor change is necessary, but that isn't too hard. Jonathan Gevaryahu Jgevaryahu(remove)@hotmail.com (24 years ago, 11-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Modelling !

(...) It's definitely closer to 25.6cm x 25.6cm than 10' by 10'! I think you meant 10" by 10" :-) --Todd (24 years ago, 10-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Modelling !

(...) For large LEGO elements, the difference would probably be significant, so I would suggest using 0.3937mm = 1LDU. But it's normally better to measure new elements along long LEGO beams, when applicable. Fredrik (24 years ago, 10-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Modelling !

(...) But 0.4mm = 1 LDU (also known as 1mm = 2.5 LDU) is for us Metrics a solid enough basis to model parts with. Greetings, M. Moolhuysen (24 years ago, 10-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Modelling !

(...) This is only an approximation. The LEGO bricks are not metric -- The dimensions are based on inches. The width of one brick is 5/16 inch and the height (without studs) is 6/16 inch. So 0.39370mm = 1LDU is more precise. I normally try to (...) (24 years ago, 10-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Modelling !

(...) Some of this has come up in various discussions. I'm not sure if all of it has or not. (...) No, centering on a stud isn't necessary. Look at 3001.dat, the 2x4 brick. It is centered on X-Z, not on a stud. The same applies for all other (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

(...) I believe the conversion is 0.4mm = 1 LDU. At least, that's what I always use. (...) Standards are already there. They just aren't strictly enforced.   Obscure ldraw descriptions

i've noticed that a few ldraw pieces have extremely drawn-out descriptions. for instance: we have the "technic pin with friction", 4459.dat 'with friction'? it should be called a "technic friction peg", or "technic friction pin" 50.dat has a good (...) (24 years ago, 28-May-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  "stud" rendering in LEdit?

The primitives "stud.dat" and "stud2.dat" render, of course, as tiny lines instead of actual stud representations in LEdit—how is this accomplished? Is it something in the code of LEdit, or is it intrinsic to the primitives themselves? Dave! (24 years ago, 26-May-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)
