RE: Flattened Primitives (was Re: 1x1 and 2x2 chess sets)

(...) No, sorry, wrong word, I didn't mean part authors are lazy! Because POV is a ray tracer, it needs to calculate transformations backwards and therefore it calculates inverse matrices. If a matrix is singular it cannot be inverted, so POV won't (...) (26 years ago, 4-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad, lugnet.build)

  Re: Java LDraw/LDLite

(...) I think I'm 98% there -- I downloaded and installed the JRE and I have local copies of the jldraw.jar as you suggested, but when I do C:\LDRAW>"\program files\javasoft\jre\1.1\bin\jre" -cp jldraw.jar izzy.graphics.Tester I get the error (...) (26 years ago, 4-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

I've got the file you want it, I believe it's a pretty big .dll file though.. I'll check quick, nope.. it's one of the smaller ones.. it's only 704K if you want me to send it to you, LMK Tamy (...) (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

(...) That's MS's Visual Basic 4.0 32-bit run-time library. I always grabbed acopy from Simtel, though Winfiles should have a copy as well. Cheers, - jsproat (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  L3PAO

I just downloaded this program, and I get an "Error Starting Program" window. It says, "A required .DLL file, VB40032.DLL, was not found." Any help, folx? --Karim (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Hmm... I went back to the site and downloaded it, had no problems, but I was planning to put up the source code anyway. When it gets there, it'll be under (URL) wrote in message <36DDB71A.B1E74334@g...es.com>... (...) (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Java LDraw/LDLite

Talk is cheep. I spent the last couple of days trying to pound out a quick Java Ldraw program. Check out the results: (URL) as an Applet is way too slow. Its best to download jre and try it with that: (URL) that this is terribly buggy right now and (...) (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Flattened Primitives (was Re: 1x1 and 2x2 chess sets)

(...) I doubt it's laziness, since a default insertion has a 1 in the yy column. There was talk in the primitives group about using the discs and rings for cones. Since we would have to go through and "fix" any parts which put a 1 in the yy column, (...) (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad, lugnet.build)

Re: Flattened Primitives (was Re: 1x1 and 2x2 chess sets)

(...) That is wrong? Gee, I had no idea. I've used lines like that a lot, because I've seen them used in other part files, and they seemed to be more elegant than "1 16 x y z 10 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 10 4-4disc.dat" when the primitive is flat in y-direction (...)   RE: Flattened Primitives (was Re: 1x1 and 2x2 chess sets)

(...) I agree. (...) It's not that simple. Together with the POV substitution string I also have other data like the BoundingBox of the primitive, which is used e.g. in the automatic camera positioning. I think it is troublesome to have this kind of (...) (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad, lugnet.build)

Flattened Primitives (was Re: 1x1 and 2x2 chess sets)

[Cross-posted to original newsgroups, and lugnet.cad.dev. Followup-To set to lugnet.cad.dev] (...) It's probably easier to make high-quality parts in LGEO, but it should be possible to make them in LDraw, run them through L3P, and get equivalent (...)   Re: More parts feedback
