  Question about Java3D

I'm considering learning Java and the Java3D API. The only official distros for Java3D I can find are for Windows and Solaris. My question is does anyone know how portable the Java3D extension is? Dos anyone have any experience with Java3D in a (...) (20 years ago, 12-May-04, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Very nice. It tells me when there are missing parts! (URL) it displays the Star Destroyer much better... meaning it displays more than 1 part, which is what 2.2b1 did. (URL) can get the dat here: (URL) op=modload&name=News...=0&thold=0 It slows my (...) (20 years ago, 12-May-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

Mac Brick CAD 2.3b1 New Release

Well folks, I've been busy again and MBC2.3b1 is the result. This represents a fairly significant upgrade with new major features including: * Multiple Part Data (.mpd) files can be directly edited. * Exporting to instructions sequences is possible (...)   Re: April Model and Scene of the Month Contest Winners

(...) The latest version of LDView lets you specify latitude and longitude coordinates for the camera on the command line (very similar to the L3P camera globe command line argument). So, for example, the default camera view would be like so: (...) (20 years ago, 7-May-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: April Model and Scene of the Month Contest Winners

(...) As long as I can specify global camera coordinates (or something equivilent), I'd consider using LDView. -Orion (20 years ago, 7-May-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

(...) As I was the one asking last time, I suppose it's my turn to reveal the secret: www.ldraw.org click 'Contests' then select 'SOTM' :-) or direct link (URL) Isaksson, Sweden BlockCAD: (2 URLs) (20 years ago, 7-May-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: April Model and Scene of the Month Contest Winners

(...) Being a broadband user, I tend to prefer bigger, but I can also understand that this would lead to an uncomfortably long page load time for people who don't have broadband. To be perfectly honest, all the models this month are big enough in (...) (20 years ago, 7-May-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: April Model and Scene of the Month Contest Winners

(...) Hmm, I forgot to make the links and tables borderless. I'll make a mental note of that for next month's contest (...) I thought about this. I foresaw a potential problem with only one picture displayed: people who vote for a model who don't (...) (20 years ago, 7-May-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: April Model and Scene of the Month Contest Winners

(...) IMO there's not much to criticize. But as you're asking ... Maybe ... ... the models should not go all the way to the edges of the thumbnails, now that there are black borders? ... the black border should be blue, just like all other links? (...)   Re: April Model and Scene of the Month Contest Winners

(...) Excellent. Nice clear views at a good angle. The orthographic camera is fine, although I wouldn't object to a little bit of perspective, and the outlining of the bricks gives a good indication of construction technique. All up, a big (...)   Re: Lsynth thoughts.

  Re: Lsynth thoughts.

(...) Oh yeah, before I forget. I hardcoded the transparent white just to illustrate the axis and the bullseye inside the part. I really think it should be coded in color 16. Then when used, it should be inserted with any transparent color. That way (...) (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Patterns, simplified

(...) I'm inferring that you are talking about converting a scanned image into a pattered subfile for a part? Then, optimally, the process requires the following discrete phases: 1) Someone[1] scans a patterned part at high resolution into an agreed (...) Here's some more opensource code (3 URLs) a really nifty description of how to use the potrace vectorizer to generate edges, and the netlib triangulator to create the triangles. (...)
