  New Primitive - 1-8t0102 1/8 torus, 1-inner Radius, 2-outer radius  [DAT]

Hello, Here is a new proposed primitive. It has an inner radius of 1 ldu, and an outer radius of 2 ldu. I have a spreadsheet that made this, so I can generate just about any size needed for a standard 16 point circle. I have been working on a (...)   Updated Primitive - 1-8t0102 1/8 torus, 1-inner Radius, 2-outer radius  [DAT]

(...) Hi everyone, Here is another Torus file updated to include the POV code to render a nice looking 1/8 torus. I believe this file was used on a chain piece that someone was working on. I have several other Torus dat files created, so if one is (...) (24 years ago, 28-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

Paul (et al), Sorry I haven't replied to this message, I've been meaning to, but I didn't want to rush out a quick reply without thinking things through. I'm not sure I've thought things through thoroughly, but I thought I'd at least throw this out. (...) (24 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

(...) Hello, Torus comments are welcome from anyone who it may affect. I'm sure there are others out there that will use these when they become familiar with them. (...) Ok, give it a throw... :-) (...) Yes, I am afraid so. (...) I can agree to (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

(...) Because I was thinking that each section covered 90-degrees of the major circle. Otherwise, they'd be named 16t*0301.dat, since each is 1/16 of a complete torus. (I suppose they could be described as 1/8 of an inner (or outer) torus, but I (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

Sorry about taking so long to reply to this message. I have been working on trying to make a few of these torii mentioned below. (...) That is what I meant. :-) (...) If we worked with the method used for the rings and similar existing primitives, I (...) (23 years ago, 25-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

Re: Torus primitive discussion. was( Updated Primitive - 1-8t0102 1/8 torus)

Does anyone have anything to say or add about the torus primitives? I have a few parts in process that use parts of a torus that can be finished up once we decide on a format and file name structure. Any comments are welcome. Some of the parts can (...) (23 years ago, 9-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

Other than questioning the practice of putting POV-Ray code in files for the parts library, I've got no problems with the torus files. Steve (...) (23 years ago, 11-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

(...) I put the POV codes in since I wasn't sure how long it would be before they would be adopted into the parts library. Do you think that this can be easily implimented into L3P? Lars? I have put a few small pictures on my Utilities pages with (...) (23 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

(...) How about using: TNNXFFFF.dat Where T is T, NN is the fraction of the major circle, X is I/O for inner or outer, and FFFF is the fractional ratio of tube radius to major radius. I'm suggesting this specific format for the following reasons: 1. (...) (23 years ago, 16-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)
