Hi Jindrich,
I actually think this belongs in cad.dev, because this is a software issue,
more than a part issue.  LSynth for example is a flexible part synthesizer.  The
parts are made up of a whole bunch of part cross sections.  Software has to
count up the number of cross sectional parts to determine true length.

Orion and I have been talking about true length support in LSynth.  The thing
is that you are going to have to provide true length for each pair of
constraints, and the tools can add up the lengths to get total true length.

Hi,

were there some discussions about incorporating part lengths into the
part properties? I mean hoses, strings, cables, tubes etc. The length is
an important property when it comes to making an inventory, but I think
it's important also for working it in CAD. At least, each .DAT could be
converted to plain inventory and it should be obvious which part I
really need (ie. its type, color and sometimes also length).

BTW: Is this the newsgroup for such discussion?

regards,
