from my measurements the thick part is 3LDU and the small part is 2 LDU.
looking at 80.dat it looks like you have a length of 1.8 for the cilinder
(which is probably more accurate), yet when placing 2 80's next to eachother
(like in 78.dat) this becomes 3.6, So I thought the correct way of usage
would be to have the end cilinders of 2 parts overlap completely.

then i could alternate between this and a cilinder (or custom made
triangles) of length 6 (to get a 2 ldu overlap in each part)
Otherwise I would have to use plain cilinders. But since this is the
official part, an altered design for the same part could impossible become
official. Which is the same reason why my electric wire is a simple
rectangle.

The part would be included with my bend thingie creator
http://www.student.kuleuven.ac.be/~m9815058/ ), so I guess it isn't
personal use.

| (...) I don't know what the "correct" way to use the 80.DAT is. In 78.DAT they are put so that they overlap by 0.4LDU. Yes, they do overlap in 78.DAT. This makes the distance between the "thick parts" 3.6 - 0.4 = 3.2. The width of the notches is (...) (24 years ago, 18-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

| (...) The segments should overlap slightly, yes. Take a look at the 78.DAT, and you will see that the cylinders overlap a bit. This is to avoid "holes" when the hose is "bent". Here's an example of a bent hose: (URL) now, when looking at the awesome (...) (24 years ago, 18-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
