Thirdly, some comments on the part itself
- I am not sure the proportions are correct. The front-to-back depth of the
body looks about right (I measured mine at 23LDu), but the height seems
wrong. Mine is about 50 LDu up from the perch to the top of the head, and
24LDu down from the perch to the tip of the tail. The DAT file seems
(without decomposing the file entirely) to be about 2/3 of these
measurements. A close enough approximation to the true size is 1LDu = 1/64
inch - I find a steel rule marked in 64ths invaluable.

Uuugggg.  I just realized what my mistake was.  And Chris, you are
absolutely right.  What I did was print out the reference photos from my
website and used the 1x1 brick as a reference.  I measured the height and
width of the brick and calculated a conversion factor for each.  I then
measured points and converted them into LDU.  Problem: I used 20 LDu across,
which is correct, but only 16 LDu high, which is 2/3 of the correct 24 LDu.
My model IS 2/3 as high as it should be.  What I plan to do is write a quick
and dirty C++ program that will recalculate all the Y co-ordinates and
convert the dat file.  I can also use it to relocate the origin.

Thanks for your observation.  Dennis.

(...) Well Dennis, you certainly choose a very difficult part to start with, and I am impressed with the progress you have made. Firstly on posting - if you post to lugnet.cad.dat.parts and attach the dat file, then Web-Interface users can launch (...) (24 years ago, 2-Aug-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
