  Re: Improved minifig heads

(...) Yes, I'd say using torii when possible would be good. I don't think we need to start making fractional torus primitives to fill in gaps, but easy improvements are worth doing. To make really beautiful heads, you should model the parts directly (...) (20 years ago, 7-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

[Steve has a brilliant insight, and cross-posts to lugnet.loc.jp] (...) I tried to post a message on Gonta's board, but I don't think it worked (the translator wouldn't translate the posting-response page, it said there was too much text). I should (...)   Re: Snatch it?

(...) Because our general approach has been that contributions to LDraw.org must be made voluntarily. We are not going to pull stuff in from people without their knowledge. However, would it help at all if we could get someone fluent in Japanese to (...) (20 years ago, 7-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: Naming Technic Liftarms

(...) Hi Steve!.. How is it going since we last talk? Anyway, here are the names that I use in my personal database: Technic Brick Technic Half Beam Technic Half Beam Liftarm Technic Beam Technic Beam Liftarm Technic Beam Liftarm Double-Bent Which (...)   Re: Naming Technic Liftarms

(...) Two alternate thoughts (which I'm pretty sure have been mentioned before): 1. Stick with 'liftarm' for the half-width parts, and 'beam' for full-width parts. 2. Use 'liftarm' for parts with crossaxle holes, and 'beam' for parts with only (...) (20 years ago, 5-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.db.brictionary)

Pull back motor LDRAW parts available?

Hello, are there any unofficial LDRAW parts of the new pull back motors (especially type 7, part-nr.32283c03 ) available? This is the motor: (URL) I'm also searching for a dat file of the Wheel 36.8x14 (part-nr: 44293): (URL) If anyone knew where I (...) (20 years ago, 3-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

  Re: Part x224: Windscreen 8 x 6 x 2 Curved

(...) There should be no conflict.[1] When this part becomes an official LDraw part it will (probably) have number 462, and Peeron and (hopefully) BrickLink will update to use that number. (20 years ago, 3-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Part x224: Windscreen 8 x 6 x 2 Curved

Peeron and Bricklink have this part under x224 but with no CAD image. But in the unofficial files on LDRAW.org, this part number refers to a piece of Technic rubber belt. Is anyone working on a DAT for this part? How do you resolve the conflict with (...) (20 years ago, 2-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: Improved minifig heads  [DAT]

(...) Here's the same file with the torus primitive included. The left over quads you're seeing are part of the subfile, 3626bs01.dat. I didn't do anything about that, since this is just an example. 0 FILE 3626bp01.dat 0 Minifig Head - Stud Hollow 0 (...) (21 years ago, 2-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: Improved minifig heads

(...) I can't comment, because I don't have that torus file (t04o6250). However, the stuff left makes it look like the posted dat isn't correct even with the file. (Some of the geometry that I would have expected to be replaced by the torus is still (...) (21 years ago, 1-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Improved minifig heads  [DAT]

Is there any interest in improving the minifig heads by using torus primitives? For some of the patterned heads, where there is printing on the curved section, it would be somewhat difficult, but most of them could be fixed pretty easily. Andy 0 (...)   Re: Can I get a little help here?

I have made a few of my own parts that were not available. Start with the file that is close to what you want. open it in ldraw and modify it. save it as a new part in your models directory. Looks like you can modify the existing ladder and get (...) (21 years ago, 29-Mar-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: Naming Technic Liftarms

(...) Well the only problem that I have with that is that I don't think "beam" describes the short ones (1x2, 1x3) as well as "liftarm", (which I agree also isn't the perfect name). They are all basically the same shape, which is what I think led to (...) (21 years ago, 28-Mar-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.db.brictionary)

  Re: Naming Technic Liftarms

(...) Yes, except that there is still nomeclature confusion elsewhere, some systems use Technic Bricks for the bricks with holes and some systems us Technic Beams, I believe. So I think the rounded designation is helpful. (...) except that the 1x2 (...) (21 years ago, 28-Mar-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.db.brictionary)

  Re: Naming Technic Liftarms

(...) I'm not sure that rounded is needed. Brick vs. Beam is very clear. Besides for bricks the count is the number of studs (always even except for 1). For Beams it is the number of holes (typically an odd number, except in the case of 1x2.) Kevin (...) (21 years ago, 28-Mar-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.db.brictionary)

  Re: Naming Technic Liftarms

Personally, I think the naming should be like this: For parts with axle holes, use the Liftarm designation e.g. Technic Liftarm 1 x 11.5 Double Bent for part 32009 and Technic Liftarm 1 x 3 Thin with Click Rotation Hinge Half Socket for part 41679 (...)
