  Re: Torus primitive discussion.

(...) Oops! I meant "Absolutely not" as in "I have no more suggestions", not "Don't do it, no way." Sorry if it didn't come across the way I meant it. I think this pot has definitely boiled long enough. Steve (24 years ago, 27-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

Re: Need part number for a dangerous predator

(...) Thanks! The cat looks much better with the conditional edge lines. (...) That's a good idea for a LDraw tool! I generally find that edge lines are fairly difficult to handle, so I reckon other people will enjoy the idea as well. Fredrik (24 years ago, 27-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Need part number for a dangerous predator  [DAT]

(...) Thanks. I hadn't considered conditional edge lines before (this being my first part, it never crossed my mind; I'm still fairly new to Ldraw and MLcad), but I liked the idea of putting them in. Here's the file with edge lines. I didn't do this (...) (24 years ago, 27-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Thanks Koen, even if my German is a bit rusty. -Orion "If you’re going to sin, sin against God, not the bureaucracy. God will forgive you but the bureaucracy won’t." - Adm. H.G. Rickover (USN) (24 years ago, 27-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Rhino size settings

In case anyone out there uses Rhino and want to model parts here's the rough specs: 20 Rhino units = 1 Lego width (i.e. the width of a 1x1 block) 24 Rhino units = 1 Lego height 12 Rhino units = 1 stud diameter 4 Rhino units = 1 stud hieght (24 years ago, 27-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Has anyone made the wheels as seen in 5920

(...) I made the wheel for this model: (URL) was also another person who posted a different version of the same wheel in the cad.parts group fairly recently, so I didn't bother to register my part in the tracker. Fredrik (24 years ago, 26-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: Bendible Objects?

(...) Thanks! I'd say, though, that the instruction on my site are probably aimed at the wrong crowd. I should probably rewrite it all with users who are new to Emacs in mind. I can't promise to do this anytime soon, but it's on my TODO-list. In the (...) (24 years ago, 26-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: part 10034 mockup

(...) Don't worry about that detail -- the LDraw standard is to model all stud3 objects as solid. Steve (24 years ago, 26-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Has anyone made the wheels as seen in 5920

(...) awhile ago? Or maybe it was Fredrick... It seems like maybe the file wasn't posted on lugnet for some reason, so you might have to search for messages talking about the part, and see if you can get a link offsite. Steve (24 years ago, 26-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: Bendible Objects?

I highly recommend Fredrik's LDraw-Mode. It will take you a little while to find the Emacs stuff and install it, plus some time to figure out how to bend stuff. But once you make the initial investment it is very easy to create wonderful curving (...) (24 years ago, 26-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: Bendible Objects?

(...) I don't know Rhino, but what I can say stl2dat can handle ascii and binary stl format. If Rhino can only produce stl data in the positive quadrant, stl2dat can change the origin in the dat file with the -o x y z option. The most tricky point (...)   Re: Bendible Objects?

(...) It's generally quite difficult to model the flexible elements. I've made major mode for Emacs (an editor) which adds functions to model some bent elements. Take a look at some tutorials here: (URL) included some instructions as to how to (...) (24 years ago, 26-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Need part number for a dangerous predator

(...) I think it is quite correct of you to add the edge lines where there is sharp corners in the actual part. The ones you did look correctly done to me. If you feel brave, you could also try to add conditional edge lines along the cat, but I (...) (24 years ago, 26-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Need part number for a dangerous predator

(...) Thanks! The edge lines I put in for Ldraw's and MLcad's sake; they make it easier to see the important features of the cat's face, plus the edge along the bottom I think is important to preserve. In POV-Ray of course they vanish, though. I (...) (24 years ago, 25-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Need part number for a dangerous predator

(...) I think it's a pretty amazing first part! Nice work. I'm not sure about use of the edge lines on things like the eyes, etc. These get lost when you POV. If there really are marks or grooves in the part there, you may want to try to model them. (...) (24 years ago, 25-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Need part number for a dangerous predator

(...) Sounds like this is not the part number. Many parts have numbers of the form "n nn" or "n-nn" which probably refer to indivudual sites within the injection mould. Only the larger ones have room to include the TLC part number, typically in the (...) (24 years ago, 25-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Need part number for a dangerous predator

(...) Interesting... I never noticed the part numbers before. On the cat, all I can see is some writing in the stud hole underneath: (c) LEGO 1 07 That 7 might be a 1; it's very hard to tell because it's at the very edge. However 1 07 as far as I (...)   Re: Need part number for a dangerous predator

(...) Welcome!!! I just looked at the cat part. Pretty good for a first part! But i can not help you with the part number, Although it should be printed some where on the part. Any how, welcome as a member to the CAD Community. C-Ya!! --Austin (24 years ago, 25-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
