Thanks, Ahui. I think installing 3.1 may solve my MEGAPov and LPub trouble.
I'll give that a try. And if all else fails I'll start my entire system from
scratch (it exists to do ldraw stuff, so that's not a problem), eliminating the
administrator account and installing ldraw from an all-in-one.
