Re: Is it appropriate to post large models here? —Steve Bliss
(...) That sounds suspiciously like a challenge. How often is 'often'? 500 KB is in the neighborhood of a 7500 piece model. I currently can't do better than 108 KB, and that would be a fairly gratuitous posting (ie, it's been published elsewhere). (...) (24 years ago, 3-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad)

(...) It's not, no, and I think there have been a couple large parts that were converted from some other format that were in the neighborhood of that size. --Todd (24 years ago, 3-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad)

That makes me think: is there a BMP2DAT program that uses the direct-color syntax of LDLite & MLCad? Having RGB colors available (...) (24 years ago, 15-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Is it appropriate to post large models here? —Carsten Schmitz
Hello, (...) direct-color (...) Hm... from my point of view that doesn't make a real difference. (As you probably know ;) I wrote BMP-2-LDraw32). In some cases you wil get even a bigger file than before because the number from 1-511 (about 300 (...) (24 years ago, 15-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Is it appropriate to post large models here? —Steve Bliss
(...) Hmm. (a) I wasn't very clear and (b) I didn't think about compressing DAT size by combining adjacent pixels with the same color. Anyway, I was thinking that with more colors, the source BMP could be smaller (in pixel x pixel dimensions) and (...) (24 years ago, 15-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad)
