Re: More newbie questions —Steve Bliss
(...) Anybody feel like building a ldraw.reg file, to set up standard stuff for DAT and MPD? Besides the browser-stuff, I'd love to be able to right-click DAT files, and have my choice of LDraw/LEdit/LDLite/L...e/TextPad, etc., etc. Steve (24 years ago, 17-Aug-00, to lugnet.cad)

(...) The obvious issue I can see with this is the path to the executables. In some cases, simply having the .exe in the path is good enough, but I understand there are problems with this. I anyone willing to test a .reg file I just built? Cheers, - (...) (24 years ago, 18-Aug-00, to lugnet.cad)

(...) Just having a .reg that I can tinker with (inserting my own path info) would be very cool! Different people may have different wants/needs in regards to the 'default' application for DAT and MPD. This almost begs for a "LDraw Registration" (...) (24 years ago, 21-Aug-00, to lugnet.cad)

(...) I hacked around with this a bit. The necessity of having path-names really limits the usefulness of this kind of utility, unfortunately. Hmm, maybe I could build a Wise Install wizard, which 1. Allows the user to pick which file-types they (...) (24 years ago, 22-Aug-00, to lugnet.cad)

(...) Oh! I forgot to mention that, since my LDraw tools are in the PATH, I was able to omit path-names. That .reg file is pretty much as-is from my machine. (...) That would rock. Is there any way you could keep the tool list open, in case more pop (...) (24 years ago, 22-Aug-00, to lugnet.cad)

LDraw and the Registry (was: Re: More newbie questions) —Steve Bliss
(...) Ah. Hmm, that's a good reason to agree on a ldraw/bin/ directory (I hate dumping stuff in /ldraw/, and my path is already a mile long). (...) I think so--Wise is fairly open and customizable, but I've never played around with it. It would be (...) (24 years ago, 23-Aug-00, to lugnet.cad)
