Ryan:

I have been meaning to try this program, but haven't gotten around
to it. Does anyone know how to set it up with LDAO??
Any help with that would be appreciated.

I haven't got LDAO running on any of the machines I have
access to at the moment, so I can't promise this explanation
is correct.

All of these instructions happen in the Tool Manager window.
To get to the Tool Manager, go into LDAO, click the Options
menu, and choose Tool Manager.

First, to make a new tool for MPD building:

* Click New.
* Enter MPD Builder as the name for your new tool.
* Set Command to <path>\buildmpd.exe -model %model%
<path> is the path to your buildmpd.exe program, such as
   c:\ldraw\mpd.
* Set Working Directory to %base%\models
* Check the Show in Tools Menu and/or Show as Button
   options, as you want.
* Set the Requires Model and Needs Short Filenames options.
* Clear the Run via .BAT file option.
* Enter a Menu Caption if you want to launch the MPD
builder from the Tools menu. Something like MPD &Builder
(the ampersand tells LDAO what key to use as the
   short-cut key)
* Enter a Button Caption if you want have a button for the
MPD builder on the main LDAO window. Enter something like
MPD &Builder (the ampersand tells LDAO what key to use as
   the short-cut key)
* Enter Tooltip Text if you want. Something like "Build a
   MPD file for distribution".

------------------------------------------------------------

I don't know exactly how to integrate the MPD splitter with
LDAO, but on a DOS command line, it should be run as

   <path>\splitmpd.exe < %mpdfile%

where <path> is the path to your splitmpd.exe program, such
as c:\ldraw\mpd. If LDAO works as I expect, the routine is
the same as above except for the command step, where the
text should be

   <path>\splitmpd.exe < %model%

Maybe this command has to be executed from a .BAT file.

Play well,

Jacob

(...) Jacob got the buildmpd part just right, I think. (I've *just* wiped out my machine, and am in the process of reinstalling everything. I don't have anything LDraw-related running right now). Oops, except for one minor detail: Set the Working (...) (25 years ago, 7-Sep-99, to lugnet.cad)
