  Making parts: circles

I apologize if this is a oft asked question: but where is the best place to learn how to create a non-official part? I'm specifically looking to make rings of specific inch/mm sizes. What I found on LDraw seemed to go over my head, nor can I figure (...) (18 years ago, 29-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad)

(...) I'm not sure there's one place to go for help. You should probably start by reading the LDraw file format spec on ldraw.org. After that, you pretty much need to dive in and start playing around with some files. However, I can tell you that 1 (...) (18 years ago, 29-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad)

(...) The primitive generator ((URL) can also be used to create rings of any inner diameter. Generated rings (as opposed to edges) always have a width of 1LDU, so a ring with an inner diameter of 8LDU has an outer diameter of 9LDU. While this seems (...) (18 years ago, 29-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Making parts: circles

First I want to thank you all for helping. Second I need to clarify somethings in my original post: I'm looking to make MLCad usable rings of wire. What I was directed to was spot on, if I had asked for that sort of rings. That was my mistake, not (...) (18 years ago, 29-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad)

Try the Spring generator (Extras -> Generators -> Spring) and set the number of revolutions (R) and the number of bottom turns (B) both to zero -----Original Message----- From: news-gateway@lugnet.com [mailto:news-gateway...ugnet.com] On Behalf Of (...) (18 years ago, 29-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad)

(...) This looks like it will work. Are the measurements in LDU's? I'm assuming they are, but I'd like to ask to be sure. How would I then turn it into a part sortable in MLCad? (18 years ago, 29-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad)
