// Empty model errors in POV-Ray —Daniel Collis
I'm trying to render some new models I made out of set 4883, but I keep getting this message when I try to load it into POV-Ray: // Empty model. This is listed where the parts should be in the file. This is a standard .ldr file, not a .mpd file. I (...) (18 years ago, 20-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad)

Re: // Empty model errors in POV-Ray —Tore Eriksson
(...) First thing you would try is avoiding spaces in file namnes and directories. L3P is a DOS program, and DOS programs generally hate spaces. /Tore (18 years ago, 20-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad)

     (...) You could also try quoting the long file names like C:\LDRAW\L3P.exe "I:\LDraw\MODELS\OFFICIAL MODELS\4883-Designer Set\4883-C Spaceship Racer.ldr" "C:\LDRAW\POV-Ray Files\4883-C Spaceship Racer.pov" -cg45,45,0 -ld -lg45,0,0 -lg30,120,0 (...) (18 years ago, 20-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad)

Re: // Empty model errors in POV-Ray —Daniel Collis
Ok, I removed all spaces from the file names and folders. Still no go. Same exact results. The top section of the files are just header info, aren't they. They all start with the // which, if I remember right, means that those lines aren't being (...) (18 years ago, 20-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad)

(...) I recenlty ran into this same problem becuase I have 2 LDRAW folders on my computer.         Re: // Empty model errors in POV-Ray —Daniel Collis
In looking in the C:\LDRAW\LEdit folder I find no other folders, just the LEDIT.exe and LEDIT.html files. Would this be causing the prob. I've decided that I'm going to keep all models on the C: drive from now on. As of this point, I still have not (...) (18 years ago, 24-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad)

Re: // Empty model errors in POV-Ray —Lars C. Hassing
(...) Thought so. Your LDRAWDIR is probably just C:\LDRAW. You can confirm this, if these folders exist: C:\LDRAW\P C:\LDRAW\PARTS C:\LDRAW\MODELS LDRAWDIR is a way of telling LDraw related programs where to find the P, PARTS and MODEL folders. Now, (...)          Re: // Empty model errors in POV-Ray —Dean Earley
(...) I haven't seen that problem with L3PAO myself. <advert> Personally, I dropped L3PAO a while ago and wrote a replacement, which IMO has a few more useful features and is slightly more up to date.         Re: // Empty model errors in POV-Ray —Ahui Herrera
(...) The ALL IN ONE INSTALLER will NOT remove your models folder when it uninstalles. All other folders within LDraw will get wiped. So as long as you put your models in C:LDRAWMODELS or store them OUTSIDE of the LDraw folder they are okay. -Ahui (18 years ago, 25-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad, FTX)
