All spoked wheels LEGO released had smooth hubs and ten
spokes. When LEGO switched from studded wheels to spoked
wheels LEGO made prototypes with ribbed hubs and twelve
spokes. These prototype wheels were used in lots of
photographs for set covers and ideabooks, but the actual
sets were released with wheels with smooth hubs and ten
spokes. So far, not a single 12 spoked wheel with ribbed
hub is known to have left the LEGO factory in Billund.
