Geoff,
The reason that your part images came out white is because you overdrove the
ambient and diffuse controls in the lighting section.
It is my understanding that ambient+diffuse should be <= 1. You are driving
things at 1 + 0.6.
This only affects part images, not building instructions, I guess.
