  Re: LDView browser plugin?

(...) Yes, I forgot about the parts library. That would definitely pose a difficulty. -Mike (14 years ago, 26-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: 2x1x2 slope trouble

(...) The best is to download and reinstall the complete library from this page... (URL) (14 years ago, 26-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: 2x1x2 slope trouble

(...) Thanks, Philo. I think you are right - I am missing the subpart. I am not seeing how to download it though. I am not the brightest light when doing these types of things. Jonathan (14 years ago, 25-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: 2x1x2 slope trouble

I am not a Bricksmith user, so there may be issues I don't know, but 60481 is an official part included in library, so you don't have to download it individually (I suspect you didn't download it's subpart 60481s01.dat, or placed it in the wrong (...)   2x1x2 slope trouble

(URL) Bearing in mind I am new to this type of thing . . . as a first timer I am having trouble downloading this part from LDraw Parts Library and placing into Bricksmith. The part seems to come out without sides on it. Has anyone advice to offer? (...) (14 years ago, 25-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: LDView browser plugin?

(...) I agree that this seems a good fit for WebGL, but there is one problem. LDraw.org is FAR too slow to serve up the part files for a web-based viewer without driving the user crazy. A plugin could install a local copy of the parts library. (...) (14 years ago, 24-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: LDView browser plugin?

(...) I have no plans to do so. Since LDView is open source, in theory anyone could build one based on it. Additionally, I have an LDView-based DLL (used by Bram Lambrecht for LSculpt's preview window and Michael Heidemann for DATHeader's built-in (...) (14 years ago, 24-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: 2 x 2 tiles with dots

(...) Philo, *thank you* million times! Saso (14 years ago, 24-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: 2 x 2 tiles with dots

(...) Yes, they do exist... now ;) (URL) (14 years ago, 24-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: 3D laser scanning

(...) Yes, better have more resolution at the beginning. In many cases I downsample differently on different sections of parts. Eg. for Dobby's head ((URL) I first reduced polygon count to a high value, then reduced again in all areas except (...) (14 years ago, 24-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: 3D laser scanning

(...) Thanks, Philo! In that case, I shall rescan without the head, from more angles, and with finer settings - I was trying (unsuccessfully) to try and limit the polygon count by scanning in lower resolution, but if you're using other software to (...)   Re: LDView browser plugin?

(...) A possible starting place for this kind of project might be tapping into the new WebGL capabilities of Firefox and Chrome (and hopefully once things have standardized, other browsers as well). See the following link for examples of WebGL in (...) (14 years ago, 23-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  2 x 2 tiles with dots

Hi all, I managed to find part #64776 Die 6 Sided Rubber Frame with Red Center with Studs (Board Games) in an Official parts list but I cannot find these files: (Bricklink part numbers) 3068bpb290 3068bpb291 3068bpb292 3068bpb293 3068bpb192 (...) (14 years ago, 23-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: 3D laser scanning

Hi Darrel, (...) Indeed, the face is not really needed here. Your scanner properly creates a file in millimeter units, scaling by 2.5 directly provides LDU. (...) From my experience with laser scanner, some smoothing can't be avoided because the (...) (14 years ago, 23-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  SR 3D Builder 0.5.6.8 released

Hi again, after a bit long wait time, here is my application new release. Nothing really exciting, just some fixes and some improvements especially in the user interface, so no videos this time. It is highly recommended that you preserve a copy of (...) (14 years ago, 23-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: 3D laser scanning

(...) Well, here's the Clown hair: (URL) one needed even more triangles to get the surface to look right, which I'm going to assume will be bad for LDraw conversion. If I make the triangle count more reasonable, the surface gets so smooth you might (...) (14 years ago, 23-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: 3D laser scanning

(...) I just had a look at the real parts in that kit, and I guess the answer to my own question is "No". I could scan the helmet piece in the new Clone Trooper pack, but I don't think the results would be what you wanted.. The new parts are much (...) (14 years ago, 23-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: 3D laser scanning

Hi Philo, I've sent you the STL file for the Anakin Skywalker hair piece and the Senate Commando helmet. I’m not really satisfied with how the front of the part looks; if you look at the picture on Peeron there’s a lot more definition in the hair (...)   Re: 3D laser scanning

Hi Reuben & Darell, (...) Yes, they look good. At first sight triangulation has too many triangles for a LDraw file, but it's easy to reduce. (...) I could have a try, but don't expect it so soon... Another problem is that I don't have the real part (...) (14 years ago, 22-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: How to obtain good photographs to make head patterns?

(...) FYI, it's called a "telecentric lens". Wikipedia: (URL) sure these are commonly available to the hobbyist market, though. -Mike (14 years ago, 22-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
