  2010/2011 LSC Nomination process open.

Hello all, Once more we are rather late with the nominations/election process... I'm not actually sure if this is a Webmaster or SteerCo process (formerly we had people in both) but I'll open it up anyway. The LDraw.org Standards Committee (LSC) is (...)   Re: Sub-Parting

(...) I think in most cases it is to break down complexity at first point. At second thinking about reusage by other parts (maybe already official). Or in case of your first example (I am the author) just because it is a physical part from a special (...) (14 years ago, 3-Jan-11, to lugnet.cad)

Re: I need insight/ideas for my new LDraw editor

(...) Although I do like the mlcad approach, the biggest problem I use to have with it is obstruction. Especially with bigger models. I do plan to support multiple view ports in my new editor but those will all be 'perspective' in order to solve the (...) (14 years ago, 2-Jan-11, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Sub-Parting

(...) I'm not a part author, but the issue resembles 'when to use functions' in programming. Reasons for subfiles i can think of based on programming experience are: - Re-usage of code (e.g. in a different color or different part) - Breaking down (...) (14 years ago, 2-Jan-11, to lugnet.cad)

  Sub-Parting

Making sub-parts is a very good method to keep file sizes down when large portions of code can be used twice or more times in the same part or in several parts. But my question is, how small can this code snippet be before it's better to not (...) (14 years ago, 2-Jan-11, to lugnet.cad)

DATHeader Update (The Reviewer Tool) Version 3.0.6.3

Hi guys, just a small bugfix for the following error: If a subpart has been saved with another name then the autocorrect method did not work correct (no separator between 's' and the filename). Download from (URL) comments are welcome. cu mikeheide (14 years ago, 2-Jan-11, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.announce)

Re: LDraw.org 2010-03 Parts Update Now Available

(...) Many thanks to all who once again put effort in this. Oh and Happy New Year btw... :-) Jaco (14 years ago, 1-Jan-11, to lugnet.cad)

Re: I need insight/ideas for my new LDraw editor

(...) Impressive list there. (...) To me atleast MLCad's way of placing parts is the most common and natural way of placing parts in a 3D. Click a part in the virual bucket of LEGO and drag to the enviroment. Integrate snapping, alingning, auto (...) (14 years ago, 1-Jan-11, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Versions of LDD?

(...) Ah! Found it, but everything is red. I see a couple of posts mentioning this though. (14 years ago, 1-Jan-11, to lugnet.cad.ldd)

Re: I need insight/ideas for my new LDraw editor

(...) I never got used to the 3D environment used in LDD or SR3D - but hey, this is just me. Best would be leaving it to the user and code it the way they can chose between 3D or MLCad style in the settings. w. (14 years ago, 1-Jan-11, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw.org 2010-03 Parts Update Now Available

(...) Thanks for that. Also here are problems with the LDraw.org site. I assume to much load :-). cu mikeheide (14 years ago, 1-Jan-11, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw.org 2010-03 Parts Update Now Available

(...) If you are experiencing the same problems accessing the LDraw.org site, I have set up a mirror download at: (URL) the parts update, no preview or options. /Tore (14 years ago, 1-Jan-11, to lugnet.cad)

Re: I need insight/ideas for my new LDraw editor

(...) I would expect the bottom of parts to stay on the drop plane (flat on it). Anything else is confusing. I would suggest another help plane for side alignment. (14 years ago, 1-Jan-11, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw.org 2010-03 Parts Update Now Available

(...) I have also ready in some posts the "last line should end with an 0". As far as I remember that has never been an official solution. And on the Parts Tracker I often find parts that do have a 0 as last character in the file and not (...) (14 years ago, 1-Jan-11, to lugnet.cad)

Re: I need insight/ideas for my new LDraw editor

(...) One of my own features is easy editing of steps. Maybe I could (in time) integrate your programs specific LDraw tags etc. Or are you thinking launch params to be used from LPub when it uses the editor as an external program? Roland (14 years ago, 1-Jan-11, to lugnet.cad)

Re: I need insight/ideas for my new LDraw editor

(...) I do like the auto snapping in your application and might someday implement a similar system. But somehow fiddling with grids etc makes it (to me anyways) somehow more fun creating the models. I know I'm somewhat weird about such things :) (...) (14 years ago, 1-Jan-11, to lugnet.cad)

Re: I need insight/ideas for my new LDraw editor

(...) I was thinking along this approach too, this is how far I got during my summer vacation: (URL) main problem I'm having is how to handle zero point of parts, as you can see the part (like most) in the picture has it's zero point on top. So (...) (14 years ago, 1-Jan-11, to lugnet.cad)

Re: I need insight/ideas for my new LDraw editor

(...) Hi Roland, One of my wish list items has been to have the building instruction process integrated (somehow) with the editing of the actual model/steps. Since you are going all platform maybe we could work something out? Kevin (14 years ago, 1-Jan-11, to lugnet.cad)
