Re: Still no zip file for 2008-01?

(...) Thanks Travis, This is good news. Kevin (16 years ago, 26-Dec-08, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: Still no zip file for 2008-01?

(...) This appears to be the 2008-01 release: (URL) is the file that's linked to from the updates CGI that LDView uses for automatic updates. See here: (URL) that the CGI hasn't been updated to reflect the fact that this is 2008-01 instead of (...) (16 years ago, 26-Dec-08, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: Still no zip file for 2008-01?

(...) Actually with the new license anyone can repackage it as a regular zip. I suspect most zip programs could open the executable zip anyway. But I agree that ldraw.org should make it available in a universal format. I'd guess it just slipped (...) (16 years ago, 26-Dec-08, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: Still no zip file for 2008-01?

(...) That's goofy. The content of the library update is a group of LDraw files, not a program. Zip is a common and perfectly reasonable format for distributing such files; it is natively supported on most operating systems I'm aware of. Packing (...) (16 years ago, 25-Dec-08, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: Still no zip file for 2008-01?

(...) Why do you need that? Under Linux I have tested this executable and it works perfect (with wine). cu mikeheide (16 years ago, 25-Dec-08, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Still no zip file for 2008-01?

LDraw Library Update 2008-01 is still posted only as a Windows executable. Why is there not yet an universally-accessible zip file of its contents? Allen (16 years ago, 23-Dec-08, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: POV Coordinate Question

(...) Sorry about the delay here. It turns out that the problem was simply that I'm an idiot. I guess I should have just started with that assumption. At any rate, the copy-paste from LDView works just fine. I was apparently deleting the "right" (...) (16 years ago, 24-Dec-08, to lugnet.cad)

  Hopper car model

A few months back I designed a (URL) train car: (URL) And recently I built LDraw instructions for it and published them online. What's the best way to share them? I put the CAD file (URL) on my blog> and on Flickr (as a comment under the (URL) 3D (...) (16 years ago, 23-Dec-08, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: L(EGO)Draw parts - 2nd batch

(...) I woudln't bother pushing this. LEGO is being very nice to the fan community by providing us parts in LDRAW DAT format. I'd leave it at that. Jeff (16 years ago, 23-Dec-08, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: L(EGO)Draw parts - 2nd batch

(...) For sure it would be best to get a file format closer from the original design (.stl for example), to be able to tweak stl2dat parameters for better results. Or to create directly POV versions... Philo (16 years ago, 23-Dec-08, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: L(EGO)Draw parts - 2nd batch

(...) Mike, The LU Team submits directly in LDraw. As you can see in the header: 0 Created with stl2dat conversion tool they use Marc Klein's converter. It is known that TLG uses a heavily modified Maya to author parts. Bye, w. (16 years ago, 23-Dec-08, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: L(EGO)Draw parts - 2nd batch

I'm curious as to what the differences between the format they submitted them to you are? For instance, do the models you've received have surface normals? -Mike (16 years ago, 21-Dec-08, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: LPub4 callout arrows vs. pointers

(...) Mike, thanks so much for this suggestion. It certainly helps with things like the arrow shafts crossing the page boundary. I have no idea how this might print to PDF, but it looks like I'll have to upgrade to Qt 4.4 to be able to set custom (...) (16 years ago, 22-Dec-08, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LDraw road macro update

There were some bugs that I missed at the very last second. Here's the fixed version: (URL) (16 years ago, 21-Dec-08, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: LDraw road macro update

I've updated the macros again. Lots of changes and a few bug fixes. All road objects are now solid and can be used within CSG operations. Added optional road embankments. The angle of the embankment is determined by the embankment slope and sky (...) (16 years ago, 21-Dec-08, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  L(EGO)Draw parts - 2nd batch

Hi folks, as an early X-Mas present the LEGO Universe Team has shared another batch of part shapes with the community, with the purpose to make them fit for the LDraw Parts Tracker. This time the focus is on Minifig Headgear but there are also some (...) (16 years ago, 20-Dec-08, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw, lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.announce)

Re: LPub4 callout arrows vs. pointers

(...) LOL. And if you had not asked, someone (me :-) would have asked after the next release to re-integrate the old style pointers. (16 years ago, 20-Dec-08, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LPub4 callout arrows vs. pointers

(...) These are great ideas and on the list of todos, but they will have to wait for some future release. I've always assumed that LPub would support the double page concept so that you could have arrows cross pages, but thats going to take a lot of (...) (16 years ago, 20-Dec-08, to lugnet.cad)
