(...) You can always make your own "include file" with colour redifinitions in a .dat, like this experimental file I made some time ago. It redifines pink into medium blue and corrects the horrible L3 light green: To use it, all you have to do is (...) (19 years ago, 9-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)

It would be interesting to be able to have a secondary remap file other than LDraw.ldr. For example, stone colors are not well supported by several programs other than L3P. If I want to build with these colors I generally use old greys, but it would (...) (19 years ago, 9-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)

Well, as of 0135 PDT, lugnet.cad.ray is at the top of the 24-hour column of the LUGNET Traffic Report (with 18 posts, vs. 12 for the next group). That makes me feel good. :-) (This is the only thread in the group that has had any posts in the last (...) (19 years ago, 9-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

(...) To me, the reasons are mainly "historical": the first way to get better images than the output of Ldraw/MLCad/LeoCAD (which is not that bad for instructions!) was POV-Ray. L3PAO then LPub did a lot to push POV as the renderer of choice. Add to (...) (19 years ago, 9-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)
